Even as a Sooner fan, I’ve always liked OSU’s uniform and colors back then and their helmet logo. That’s burnt-orange. Plus I was a Terry Miller fan. Smoothest stride there was.

From 1967-1991, OU and OSU played 25 times, and this 1976 game was OSU's only win during that span, going 1-24. From 1946-1964, OU won 19 in a row. Needless to say, OSU wins have been rare and special in this series. The Cowboys most successful stretch in this rivalry besides their 6 game unbeaten run (with 3 ties) from 1929-1935, was winning 4 out of 6 between 1997 and 2002, including those 2 titanic back to back upsets in '01 and '02. When OU joins the SEC, this rivalry will probably end. Of course, they'll start again when the SEC expands to 40 teams in 2032.

actually, they will expand to 60, Big10 expands to 60, & that means 13 other teams left in FBS, so they rob FCS to make sure 60 in Big12, Mountain West, AAC & rest.

I had a copy of this game acquired several years ago when I collected tapes. I was at a University of Tulsa football game and KTUL Channel 8 Sports Director Chris Lincoln was seated directly behind me. Chris did the play by play for this game. We got to chatting and I mentioned this game and that I had a copy of it I could give him. He was very excited…….and even mailed me a OU/Barry Switzer tribute tape that his company Winner Communications had produced. Super nice and personable gent…and a local broadcasting legend. He did regional broadcasting for ABC in 1976. This is the satellite feed….which explains the absence of commercials.

I remember listening to this game on the radio. I had just moved from Georgia earlier that summer and my next door neighbor introduced me to "bedlam " with this game.

I was at this game with my dad, north end zone about 25 rows up and dead center between the goalposts. Terry Miller gave us fits all day. Also hahahahaaa at 10:41 the announcer mentions OU nose tackle Reggie Kinlaw who I remember being a beast for us -- and he weighed all of 230 pounds! Great times

Thank you for commenting! My stepdad played for Oklahoma State. Skip Taylor number 28. I was able to get this video from the athletic department at Oklahoma State. I wish the quality was better but he certainly enjoyed watching it. It was the first time he had seen it since he was on the field that day. It was also one of the rare times Oklahoma was beaten by Oklahoma State. Oklahoma has owned the Cowboys for decades

@@fatkat311 I remember the total disbelief in the stadium that we had lost to OSU. I can still see in my mind's eye that last TD pass by OSU at 2:01:00, it happened right in front of us. Great times

Two things I remember most from that game. Running by coach Switzer as we're coming onto the field and one of our defensive coaches telling the king " touchdown" the second Terry Miller was pitched the ball on OSU's first score

It's so crazy to watch this and see how the game of football has evolved over the decades. Seeing teams run the wishbone as their primary offense is so bizzare when you coinsider how diverse offensive schemes have become.

I remember up until 1983 oSu had their games broadcast at 10:30 Saturday night on KTUL in Tulsa. If I remember correctly the Big 8 got a tv package with Raycom or Mizzlou (early syndication) for games at 11am on Saturday broadcast on KJRH in Tulsa that ended that

The lack of commercial breaks and lack of commentary during the periods should have been commercial breaks... reminds me of watching satellite wild feeds back in the day. I wonder if a satellite feed was the source of this recording? EDIT: After hearing the announcers say it was a delayed broadcast... it was most likely just "tape" delayed. I'm so glad to get to see this. I've never seen it. I was 11 years old in 1976, and wasn't really paying attention yet. By the time I was paying attention, I wish I would've had this video available to comfort myself with during the 80s.

Dale Markwell - thank you for your comment. My stepdad was on the field that day. …. Skip Taylor number 28. I contacted the athletic department and asked if they had any clips from this game they could send me and they actually sent the entire thing. Not the best quality but for the late 70s it was ok. He has tried to find this game for years. This is one of the rare times that they actually beat Oklahoma.
