I remember as a child sitting in a 1976 Eldorado Biarritz and those comfy seats. The driver turned the ignition and I felt and heard nothing. The car floated down the road as if it was a carpet ride. Cadillac had luxury vehicles down to a science. Sometimes you simply want to glide and not be in a race car. A great channel with great content!

That interior is from a 1978 Eldorado Biarritz. The loose-cushion button-tuffed interior shown wasn't available on the 1976 model but, it is still a beautiful car anyway. Also, in the acceleration test, the 1976 Eldorado was not able to spin the front tires. Either this engine was replaced or the smog equipment was taken off. Still a gorgeous car.
@friendofdorothy9376
2 жыл бұрын
I just knew that interior was incorrect. The big square buttons and the pillow effect was not right to me. All the pictures I’ve seen in the dealer catalogues show the leather as “pulled down” along lines closer to the edges. Also, didn’t the wheel covers come with painted centers?
@charlesdalton985

Older tires will harden up some, that may have contributed to the tire spin.
@JW_Reviews

That's correct! The Biarritz style seating was added to this car recently. And interesting point about the tire spin. That could have happened because of the fuel injection system that may have added some extra power. It definitely was impressive!

Here in the EU, especially germany the sizes of the cars and understanding of them are different compared to the US and i know that. I drive a Model Y and over here its considered a pretty large SUV, with a Model X / X7 / Q8 being like the larges SUV you can buy here (ofc you can import the more bigger US SUV) but i talk about the SUV made for the EU market. Now out of curiosity i compared the data of this convertible eldorado and also of the fleetwood to my Model Y and they are huge. Like i really mean huge huge. They are all one meter longer than my Model Y of which i sometimes think: Wow, it is a really big car i drive. And then i just see these cars here on KZitem, and i am like: WOW I also was in a classic car museum and saw 1974 eldorado convertible with white interieur (A BEAUTY) and it was so friggn huge. Really love these old US land yachts and plan in the future to get my hands on one in prestine conditions. Really want to feel and experience this feeling drivng a almost 6 meters long car around which feels like the titanic. LOVE IT. And at 8:15 my other most favourite US car, the crown vic. Such a beauty.

Hi there. OMG! I just want to say thank you so much for posting this car and driving quietly without dialogue. It brought back memories when I was young. I'm in my 60's now, but in my 20's I had a 1974 Eldorado, with the same color interior & exterior as this one. Mine had a white landau vinyl top with the opera window. I used to love looking through the front windshield out at the Cadillac emblem sitting on the hood, and also the turn signal indicator lights sitting on each side of the hood. Because you were driving the car without talking, it allowed me go back in time as if I were in this car driving it myself. There is no car like this today! Again, thank you.l

Dad had a 76 Eldorado - He and I loved that car. The only things that I didn't like was the design of the wiper switch (that funky, clunky L-shaped contraption) and the plastic headlight retaining clips that would break, leaving the spring-loaded headlights to aim in four directions. Other than that, it's truly a work of art.

Well well. What a joyride, right! The smoothness of the "boulevard" ride is no joke, smooth as glass on a good road. That's for sure. The Cadillac 500 was interesting, more torque than the 454 and 455 stablemates, but less horsepower, which means they weren't really designed for revs, but to pull from the line. The factory EFI, all analog, possibly different from the aftermarket version in your demonstrator car gave and additional 20 horses. Two other bits to mention. You noticed the ease of the power steering on the front drive system. I always thought it was over-boosted compared to the Devilles, but the Eldo had so much more weight over the front wheels so the extra boost was necessary. I laughed, yes. No effort at all, more turns, lock to lock. The front suspension used torsion bars instead of coil springs too, which is part of why the front end was so smooth. The solid rear axle on coil springs had a bit more of bump to it. The indicators on the fenders and back windows you see via rearview for all the different lamps were connected to the various actual lights with strands of fiber optic. Firemist Red or FireEngine Red. To each his own. Last bit. I think your Eldo demo has the only non 8-track tape stereo unit I ever saw in the series. The Am/Fm radio, without tape, was not popular. Egads man. At that point we were still 8 years from the intro of the compact disc. Very glad you enjoyed the car! They are a part of a lost Americana, impossible to explain, experience only kinds of things. Best Wishes.
