I am researching the high build and will be watching the next video to see how it sands. After decades, my elbows are going quick. I noticed your cup system and even though you may not need to cover sand scratches, I was waiting for you to spray upside down on the rockers. It’s been 4 years since the release of the video, but I sprayed my son’s 81 El Camino with the PPS 2.0 large cup system. I was happy to spray the base & clear upside down. The amount of 16 Oz. mix was interesting to help me calculate for a 67 C10. This ones mine! Retired, after years of fixing others. Thanks for the info. ASE Master since 1978.

Hey Eric. Just came across your videos over last week. I am restoring a 69 Camaro and your video adventures have given me lots of great ideas. I am, like you, trying to do as much of the work myself. Great job on the car. Keep the videos coming.

That quarter panel looks awesome, great job! This is the point that you really start to see progress. I have a '79 Z-28, that I'm rebuilding a 400 SBC for at the moment, one day I will be ripping it apart like this but for now I'm going to try to keep it as much together as I can. I also have a '71 C10 and '71 Monte Carlo that are both in the middle of a frame-off, so I need at least one classic on all 4 wheels. I got about 2 years of your videos to catch up on, keep up the great work!

It's one of those things where it can be as straight as possible, but in "Camoflage" (per your wife), it just look crooked. You have quickly developed a very nice spraying technique. Thanks for all the time you take putting these videos together.

I wonder how much different slick sand and feather fill really are I have been kicking it around the local place has fether fill but not slick sand I believe there both poly primers.. the quarter looks sweet erik great job and I need one of those guns lol
@asicerik
7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris. The Slick Sand has a higher build, 4-6 mils per dry coat. Feather Fill is 2-4 mils.

The flg is a great gun for poly. I really like mine. Looks like it flowed out nice. Did you reduce it any?
@asicerik
7 жыл бұрын
Odd, I replied to your message, but now it is gone. Ok... let's try this again :) Hey Russ! Yeah, it really does spray nice. Big, fat fan too. I did NOT reduce it this time. I wanted to see how it sprayed as-is. Maybe if it was colder, it would be better. Or, I guess it could have laid out even flatter had I reduced it. Maybe I will try that next time. We'll see. Thanks buddy!

Thanks for the great vid! I am about to apply the G2 to my car. I know it was a while ago, but do you recall the approximate flash time between coats? The product sheet says 5 - 10 munites between coats. Just wondering if that was your experience. Sorry if you mentioned it in your video. I was getting a lot of buffering and jumped around a bit. That gun you used worked really well. I'll be really happy to get anywhere close to that with my TCP Global 18 mm gun.

Looking great!!!!!..The best thing i did was ditch the Harbor Freight gun because you waste a lot of time and material just sanding the orange peel out..I went back to old school high quality syphon feed guns...alittle more over spray but every thing it sprays lay`s like glass...far less sanding

@samsgarage2856

Awesome! It did look like it sprayed real nice. Would you recommend I get that finish line gun to use for epoxy primer instead of the harbor freight gun I have been using?
@asicerik
7 жыл бұрын
For general purpose epoxy, no. When you get to doing body work, it might be a good time since you will need a primer gun anyway. Epoxy is hard to clean up, so it is good to go through a couple of HF guns first to get used to cleaning them.

Funny how these products say no shrinkage, but your sand scratches came back after drying... I used this stuff yrs ago when it first came out, and hated the way it sanded! Is it any better for sanding now?

The feather fill is not too bad. I am not sure about the sanding scratches. I wonder if they are hidden in sanding dust, etc. Thanks for watching

When u said Harbor F. Gun...was that the famous purple gun? I was considering that for a disposable gun. 2- 3 uses maybe, get a new one next project. That way it always sprays as good as its capable of...and im not out much money
@asicerik
3 жыл бұрын
Yup, that's right. It sprays fine for primer and stuff. I am not sure you can get a very smooth texture for base/clear. I switched to the FLG-4 just because of the disposable cups and you can take it apart to clean it. If you do get the HF gun, make sure you clean it thoroughly. It is stored in oil, which won't go well with your paint :)
