These were pretty good little outboard motors. I remember when My Dad bought a 1980 Johnson 25 hp Outboard New on a New 14 ft MirrorCraft Deep Fisherman. It was a nice little rig back then. Dad's 80 Johnson 25 was a Longshaft W/ Electric and Pull start. That boat would fly with that Johnson 25 , Great Memories ! Good video 👍

I have the same one but I don't know why it keeps breaking the propeller shear pin , everything works perfectly and it's the only problem

I have almost the exact same motor! Johnson 25E77S and it still runs like a champ too in 2020!! I have had to repair some minor things over the years but still runs great! I was neglected for about 20 years sitting in my parents yard on a boat just rotting away in the middle of it's life. After that it still runs great! And it sounds exactly the same as this!!

This one sounds just like the 25 Johnson on my boat! Mines from the late 80’s or 90’s with integral electric start

I went back to being a abused young boy with sound of this 25hp motor! I’m having traumatized flash backs just hearing this motor and the feel of the boat paddle smashing my skull for getting hung up! Me and my little brother would have welts across our faces from fishing pole strikes! Aahhh those were the days, the all or nothing days!

I just got a chance to buy a boat for 100 bucks with johnson outboard. I know the first thing is to replace the dried and likely cracked water pump. and make sure every thing rotates or moves without binding flush the fuel system , anything thing else to check to make sure the engine isn't ruined on start up?

Enjoy watching your videos, especially the ones with the old sea king motors. I could really use your help here even though it doesn't pertain to this engine or video. I have a 1975 Montgomery Ward Sea King (Chrysler) 15 HP. On the carburetor mine only has half the side of the choke butterfly or half moon may be the better way to describe it. Is this how these carbs were designed? It seems odd that it would even choke the engine if half the barrel is allowed to let air in. The motor does run but it does have some slight discoloration on the head from where it must have been ran hot at some point in its life. Other then that, it seems to run fairly decent. I've been watching a lot of your videos hoping to gain some of your knowledge on this older dinosaur. I've yet to get it on open water and see how it will push my 14 foot very bottom. Hoping for a good outcome. I wanted to do a little carburetor cleaning on it before I took it out for a test run. That was when I noticed the half butterfly choke and was hoping you might fill me in with better details. Thanks, and take care!

I have an outboard just like this I bought tonight. it needs some help, I'm not sure how to adjust the carb or how to clean it. I can't find a manual for it either. Do you know where I could find a manual that isn't $50 + $10 for shipping.

Great video once again! I have a question about my 9.2 Chrysler I'm hoping you can help me with. I've been noticing a congealed whitish substance floating around when idling. After getting the boat back on the trailer I could see that it was coming out of one of the little ports above the prop, just below the water intake. It smells like fuel but I can't understand why it's doing this? Thanks.

I was wondering if you could help me identify a Johnson 5.5 I've got. I'm unsure of the year or really anything about it aside from the horsepower. It looks similar to a 1963 you've had on here before but it's missing the cowl and identification plate so I'm not sure.. is there any tell tale signs for certain years or are they all pretty much the same except for cowl design and fuel mixture ratios. Thank you and have a blessed day!

I had the same problem then I found a video on you tube that told me too look on the FREEZE plug for the number. He said to go to a dealer to find out about the motor. I just typed the number into Google and got everything. Hope it works for you.

I'm a mechanic and I just got a boat engine its my first one and it ran last year I clean the carb and I cleaned the points and redid the gap on them it is a 1959 evinrude fisherman 5.5 horse but I can't figure out how to turn it on or off or if I need to replace the condensers because both plugs are not sparking and I don't think its coils because it just ran last year and there is no videos on turning them on and off
