Back then I was more than happy with my 2CV. Still, I can remember admiring the design of this little car.

My late grandfather bought a new Citroen visa super e . In blue. In Feb 1982 : which I've owned since 1993. I use it in the summer month's i love the simplicity of it. I love all my classics but, the visa has sentimental value i remember the day my grandad bought it like yesterday! He was actually going to buy a Citroen Dyanne. He drove it from London to Cornwall 3 times 82 :83:83: bit of a long journey but it got him there and back no problem.

It was a good little car, economical practical and just right for doing the sorts of things that a small car will do ie nipping to the shops, trips out with the kids, moderate motorway runs, taking thing things to the tip with seats folded down, plus small family tasks ie carrying relatively modest amounts of belongings in house moves and bringing back small amounts of DIY materials from the diy shop with the seats folded, and other small necessary tasks as required.

I have recently bought a Visa! It's a later, facelifted water cooled one, so considerably less "quirky" than those shown in this brochure, but still so different to a modern car. People really notice it!

Always loved the Visa. Shortlisted them for a potential used car purchase. Wouldn't mind one as a classic.

My mum had a face lifted version in the mid 80s - 4 cylinder, water cooled. Nice roomy comfortable small car. Thanks for uploading - fond memories of this sweet car.

Great to see so many interesting cars on this channel. I remember bumping into a former schoolmate who had just passed his test and been given a Visa GTi by his parents. Mind you, If I'd been given a new car when I was 17 I wouldn't be where I am today!

This was supposed to be the 2CV/ Dyane replacement, I think the smallest engine was 2 cylinder 2CV, The Visa was replaced by the AX about 1987 but there was a van version C15 made until about 2005, years after the Berlingo and identical Peugeot Partner came out about 1995.

Interesting to see this original Visa brochure, as we didn't get this car here in Finland. Only the Visa II from 1981 we did get. I recall that high price was the reason why the original Visa wasn't imported here. Always liked the Visa II, nice and modern looking car for the 80's, interesting dash with those satellite switches. Saw them pretty often on the roads, but didn't know any owners myself. Must be in the 90's when I last time saw Citroen Visa, but I do have a 1/43 scale diecast model at least, a white Citroen Visa II, made by Odeon. I think Visa also appears in one brochure I have about Citroen lineup in 1987, just before AX replaced it.

I had a 1980s Visa Super with the 1124cc Peugeot engine and absolutely loved it. I drove it to Cyprus and back with my parents as passengers which seems crazy to me now but it made it. It had the old style nose and the control pod on the steering column which worked very well. I miss the styling, comfort and sound of it despite it being temperamental in the winter months. By the way, the Super was body coloured under the bumper, the photo in the brochure doesn't show that off well. Also there was an even faster GTi Visa with quad headlights and a 4 door cabriolet or decapotable.

Can you imagine how cheaply we could make a car like this nowadays? Modern safety and emission regulations have made vehicles so heavy and expensive.

The later ones and GTi, etc, were quite stylish. The early ones are an acquired taste, styling-wise. But, I would love an early, basic one (the Club) with the 2 cylinder engine! I love the one big swishy wiper too!

My mates Dad had a Visa, I think it might have been a later 81 model, had a diesel engine. It did .... over 70mpg! My old M reg Diesel Cavalier, M, 94, would do 60 - 62 mpg. So what happened?

It had all the ingredients to be a success, but Citroen totally failed with this, it was dumpy and unfortunate looking. The first Golf and Renault 5 knew how to do it more stylishly and competently
