WOW! Who would have thought that time that we will remember this technology as a vintage nostalgia? I think that everything that is once thought 'revolutionary ' or 'not beautiful' or 'a replacement of something nice' will eventually become nice and beautiful as time goes and people get used to it.

You can definitely tell Panasonic made this commercial to advertise the format rather than their brand. They didn’t want the format war going to Sony and their proprietary Betamax format.

Sony happily licensed the Beta format to other companies. Sanyo or Toshiba made their very own machines. JVC and Matsushita, though, were even keener not only to license the VHS but also to supply OEM machines to other brands.

“Original look” of movies is high definition projected on a screen. Bluray and Ultra Bluray come closest to presenting that image. (VHS and DVD are just showing a blurry version.)

Betamax never overcame its choice of a small cartridge. 4.4 hours maximum while VHS achieved 10 hours per tape. More sounds better to customers, so VHS won their dollars.

Who the f*** needs vcRs? It's the 21st century. Come on, people save your f****** money on DVD's players. Blu-ray players or even a gaming console that supports DVD in blu. Ray. VCR's are piece of junk Compared to those players.
