I bought one of these new in 1978 when I worked in a small club (playing with a with a P bass), and I loved the tones and available grind when we did Stranglers' stuff! Although it wasn't ever as loud as it looked! It paid its way, though. Years later, I ended up disconnecting the amp and using it as an extension 4 x 10. Possibly an equal to the old Portaflex for studio stuff? And I still remember the smell of it when it was new, with all the labels on it!!

I owned this amp for about 5 years starting when I was 18. It's not super loud, but you can really drive this amp all the way. It had a great sound. I've run it naturally, and with a Line 6 pod.

Sweet vid man. I have a 73 bassman ten silverface that's been put in a 1x12 custom made combo enclosure with a old Jensen. Sounds absolutely incredible. Second channel for me personally is the best one. Volume on 10, treble on 3/4 middle on 6/7 and bass on just before 5 and when crank master to 6 that's where it's at for me. 👌 Your vid inspired me to get the bassman ten. It's the best amp I've ever heard tone wise and breaks up perfectly. With reverb pedal, deja vibe and ts808 it's good to go.

My high school had one of those that the bass player used occasionally for jazz band. It was the first real tube amp I ever used, and the sound shocked me. I played my Boss Super Overdrive through it.

I just bought a 1968 fender Bassman. It has 200 watts! I’ve never seen played or come across a 200 watt amp from that era. New tubes were installed and the speakers were fine. I feel so good about getting this
@MrSneaksful

Same, and thats the way to do it with the overdrive. The amp was just barely loud enough to play with a drummer and guitarist so the overdrive would get you there.

@@precisionbrown6829 does it say 200 watts on the outside? That would be the amount it draws. A 68 bassman is a killer amp that cbs didn’t get a chance to mess with the circuit as much as they did in the 70’s. Congrats on the new amp!

Do You Like Gear? Lived most it’s life in church but smelled like weed when I got it. Maybe it was a weed church though... is that a thing? The power and standbye switches were also shorted and that could of led to the weed smell... changed them obviously but who knows...

@@precisionbrown6829 I really think it was due to the bad switch that I replaced. Maybe coffee fell into it, but I’ve noticed silverface amps have a certain smell due to the rust inhibiter they put on the metal. Maybe zinc leaves them kinda of chalky. It was used in hammonds also and they are chalky also.

silly question but i'm very new to gear, would this work well to have a guitar and a bass playing through it at the same time? or is that something amps just don't work well doing?
@MrSneaksful
2 жыл бұрын
It will work but not at high enough volumes for full band, maybe with pedals. But yes, technically you can have two instruments at the same time. But not the way to do it. You want seperate amps for guitar and bass. Each instrument needs its own form of amplification usually with music.

If course wired for 8 ohms Some cats so messed it up so stripped the rolex off and re grill w oxblood Wood grain/oxblood really looks good Modded it for open back as well Never did like the silver face grill cloth Cool original look IMO WoW mine is way quieter Takes pedals well too Wish I could keep mine Too many amps too little time

Try putting your master volume on 10 and your bass channel 2 with vol on 2-3 deep switch engaged in n the high second input. or Jumper input 2 of bass channel to clean channel it to the Normal Channel 1. So I play with the master volume up at 10 all the time which defeats it and then I control the volume from the individual channels but I put the tone stacks on 9.5 or almost 10 and then control the volume from the guitar

@@dustinaltick5220 Thanks for your answer. I have a Hot Rod Deville which never sounded right to me, still waiting to try different speakers on it. This Bassman ten should sound better than my HRD but it is too bulky and heavy. I think I will look for a Deluxe reverb to trade my Gibson SG. Have you tried a Deluxe Reverb? how do you compare Bassman to Deluxer R?

Hey I just found an amp just like at local music store they're asking $426 for it it's missing the grill cloth that they said everything is been gone through by a amp Tech and everything works good what do you think about that price
@dustinaltick5220

I think it’s a bit high to be missing the grill cloth and I’d like to see an invoice of the work done, anyone can say it’s been serviced but without looking at the chassis that’s just what they say... if you get a photo of the chassis and filter cap doghouse I’d be happy to let you know if I see service in there.

Hey Dustin! I'm the guy that bought this amp, and I just have some questions about it. When you say you followed the Premier Guitar mod, is that exactly as they have it on the website? Or did you make some other adjustments to it? I'm not quite knowledgable enough to tell just by looking at it. Just trying to get a sense of what my baseline before i start trying to mod it further. Sounds great and loving it so far, just itching to tinker as always! Thanks!
