I had this in red 1979 but without the metallic paint and a blue stripe through the tank. I "Loved" that bike and bought an "Invader Colour matched cockpit fairing for it, complete with side panel decals. It looked the Biz, and enjoyed every Saturday riding around each afternoon, with colour matched Red and Blue Honda paddock jacket, riding up to Sunderland and Durham and back each afternoon. I still have the jacket as a keep sake of those happier "Care-Free" times.

Gorgeous. Wanted one when I was 15. Then they changed the learner laws in the UK and I had to settle for the CB125Tb in 1982. 16.5 bhp, mind.

Ardent Brit bike rider here back in the day used to like anything that vibrated leaked oil and broke down every 500 miles rode one of these things once thought we'd been invaded by some sort of advanced planet

Had one in exactly this colour scheme, registered in March 1981. My first "proper" bike and god what a beautiful looking machine it was. Sure, they were slow, and I mean slow, but I didn't care... It was reliable, comfortable and BIG compared to my previous bikes. I did 26,000 miles in two years on the Superdream and it always started on the button. Sold it for a new Suzuki GSX400 and immediately regretted that decision. I've had loads of bikes since, and ride a GPZ500 but I've always wanted my old bike back! She's still around, on SORN. OEK201W where are you?

In its day it was probably the best looking 250 but the Yamaha RD250 & Suzuki X7 would leave it in the dust

I'm restoring a similar one in the same colours, but have opted to spray the engine black with a polished rocker cover and black forks. Your one looks smarter as it is closer to original. Lovely work 🙂👍

Lovely bike. I love 70’s snd 80’s bikes. I’m actually looking for a 250/ 400 dream to add to my little collection. I’ve an 88 CBR1000F , 2 katanas 1980 and 83 and a nice 04 GSX 1400. You have a real gem there. Not many round this colour. Mostly blue silver of black.

If you're used to powerful bikes get ready for a BIG shock when a Superdream. Even the 400 isn't exactly wheelie material.

Look after these bikes and they will last 4-ever. I gave mine a 1000 mile oil & filter change. Adjusted the Counter Balance Chain in the engine around the same time, along with the cam chain, and it ran just like new, very quiet like a new one. These engines need this maintenance or they become mechanically noisy in no time.

I know exactly your problem . It's staring you in the face !! Mine went faster in fourth than sixth by redlining it through each gear from rest 😂 I almost beat a bloke in a Reliant Robin but there was a bit of a headwind !!! The solution to your problem is to come to terms with the fact that they are shite and replace it with anything before your will to live will be drained away by its depressing existence 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Slow.. you could exercise your dog with this.. no problem... it totally lacked power.. I KNOW because I had the 400N version and my mate had the 250N we swopped for a short trip out and he wouldn't give mine back... 👀 I had to sell i to him in the end. They were great looking machines but totally and utterly a commuter city bike and not much else.

On mine I cheaped out and fitted an undersized back tyre which just lowered the gearing a tad and suddenly it felt a lot less gutless. It cruised at 60mph/7500 rpm which wasn't too bad for 4t 250 back then.

Ahhhhh The WET DREAM 😂😂 Such a sad creation ... it should be put out of its misery before it causes more people who see and hear it to cringe and become depressed by remembering the grim times during their unfortunate crossing of paths with such a pathetic abomination of an attempt at being a motorcycle... CAUTION ⚠️ OWNERSHIP OF THESE VEHICLES WILL CAUSE YOUR WILL TO LIVE TO BE ERODED AWAY ... Blimey I shudder to think how many poor old sods have been affected by this . Im going to set up a therapy helpline for those who had to endure riding to work in the pissing rain and then spend all day grafting knowing they've got to ride the dream back home then be nagged at by the Mrs and its only monday !!! I don't miss that period in history 😢
