My Dad had died in 1979 and this finally got Mom into horse racing, after years of tagging along. She took me to the Belmont Stakes, where the 53-1 payoff on the winner got her truly hooked, after which she began taking me every other weekend, then every day to OTB after she won $400.00 the first time she handicapped.

Jacinto Vásquez up. This was Vasquezs second Derby win. First on Foolish Pleasure in 75. Why do I bring this up? Jacinto Vásquez was the regular rider on Ruffian. Though Foolish Pleasure and Genuine Risk would give Vásquez Derby wins he’d go on to say that Ruffian was the best horse he’d ever ridden.

That was the sign from above that the Phillies were going to win that year.Strangely, they also won the pennant in 1915,when Regret, the other filly, won.

Good afternoon. It´s a very interesting coincidence. But Los Angeles Dodgers won 1988 World Series when Genuine Risk became the third filly to win Kentucky Derby. I presume you´re a Philadelphia Phillies fan. I am a Cincinatti Reds one. Greetings from Venezuela.

Oops! In my previous comment I should write "Winning Colors" instead "Genuine Risk". My apologies to you.
