Matt Robinson's one good game as a Bronco. After Super Bowl XII, it seems like Red Miller got it in his head that Craig Morton had to be replaced. So, before the 1980 season, the Broncos gave up a 1st and 2nd round pick and Craig Penrose (who never played a down for the Jets) to get Robinson. After this game, Robinson reverted back to form and showed everybody why he had been a 9th round pick. By game 7, he was firmly planted on the bench and Morton was back behind center.

Poor Aaron Mitchell in the Cowboys secondary. He was cut after only two years for getting burned too many times, particularly in the Falcon playoff game. Think he played one more year. Then again, at this level of competition, there is no shame for anyone who ever starts in an NFL game, much less gets in three seasons.

1980 was a strange season for the Broncos. In 1979 they went 10-6 and lost at Houston in the AFC Wild Card Game. In 1981 they again went 10-6 but flushed the division title and the playoffs down the toilet with a road loss to a bad Bears team on the final day of the season. In 1980 they went 8-8 Nd missed the playoffs. All season they alternated QBs with Craig Morton and Matt Robinson who they acquired in a horrible trade with the Jets. The turmoil cost Red Miller his job as head coach and 1981 began the 12 year run of Dan Reeves as head coach.
@jredwine12

It was worse than that, they lost home games to the Chargers, Raiders, Chiefs and Oilers. The last time they'd go .500 or worse at home for a LONG time. Still, they lost two close games (9-3 and 24-21) to the eventual world champs, if they'd won those two games, the Raiders don't make the playoffs and Miller never gets fired. Though this awful season gave us the draft position to pick up Dennis Smith in the 81 draft which along with shrewdly finding Rulon Jones in the 2nd round in 80 and lucking into Karl Mecklenberg in the 12th round in 83, shaped the Bronco D that was always good, just not good enough in January. Go Broncos!

@@christopherfoote4643, but KAISER sold them in 1984 to the real star as an owner- HALL GUY..PAT BOWLEN. That sale was a bit contentious in itself. Kaiser sold his majority(60%) stake with the condition that BOWLEN had to first give Kaiser a first shot option of any shares BOWLEN sold. Bowlen gave JOHN ELWAY 10 percent ownership later, prompting KAISER to sue because he did not gef first option/right of refusal in that 10 percent. Kaiser intially won, a win that would nullify ELWAY's ownership and possibly return the team to KAISER for contract violation. But, in the appeal, BOWLEN won with the judge ruling that ELWAY was given ownership as part of his compensation, his salary, pre-salary cap era, and it was ruled that no non-salaried sale of shares had taken place as per the wording of the sales contract when Stockholder was never defined, leading to the traditional non-employee, non-compensation, contract term of a shareholder being honored in the appelate judge's ruling.
