We should take a moment to think about what a bloody fantastic piece of music Jeff Wayne's TV-am theme really is. It builds suspense; sit down, folks, and get ready - TV is about to start this morning. You get a sensation of work being done, skilled people putting in effort behind behind the scenes to get things switched on and ready to go. Compositionally fascinating - moody, starts and finishes in the minor key, and even veers into melancholy at times. Synth led, but accompanied by a lovely big, warm string section. An instantly memorable melody, so you can either play the whole thing or a three second stinger, and it works. A genuinely interesting percussion track - always shifting, keeping the interest. A proper bass groove. David Dundas' Daybreak (still heaps of fun) seems conventional in comparison.

So the string section is real. It figures. I first thought it might have been a fancy synth like a Fairlight but it just sounds too real.

Jeff Wayne is a musical genius. He also did the music for War of The Worlds, The Big Match from 1980-86, Turkish Delight advert from the 80s, the Esso tiger theme between 1977-1986, ITV 1982 world cup theme "Matador" and so much more.

It really does stand up now as pure, wholesome and utterly unabashed Vaporwave. If this was on a new _Cat Systems Corp_ album it wouldn't sound out of place at all, especially the first theme. or if you prefer: GOOD MORNING BRITAIN (Breakfast Television) [v1.0] 行トりイご媛

24h TV was, and is, unnecessary and I don't like it. This is the sort of telly I like, TV-am, the itv schools and colleges programmes followed by tots TV, a lunchtime soap, the ITN news at one, crown court, and an afternoon magazine programme, then Sons And Daughters followed by kids telly, Blockbusters at 5.15, ITN news at 5.45, local news at 6pm, Then There's Life with Dr. Miriam Stoppard on health issues, Emmerdale Farm, Coronation Street, World In Action, comedy at 8.30, a good drama at 9pm, ITN news at ten, local news, and local regional variations with programmes of an ITV companies' choice until closedown.

I agree. I can't believe that many people need 24 hour TV.

You are so right on that really-entirely too I would say. You could of course add to that ITV schedule then other series of old like Crossroads and Take the High Road also. What about About Britain, Paint Along With Nancy, University Challenge as it was then, or The Sullivans or The Young Doctors? So many to choose from really?!

I am not too sure, but I think in the ITV schedule then comedy was at 8.00pm, then World In Action at 8.30pm, but am not too sure. Other than that though, you are so right indeed too!!

Not funny dude. They didn't actually swear though, if they swear it wouldn't be long. If this counted as swear (swear joke or course), then you would be mad because this swear is over the word limit (from 4h in 1980s to 9h in 1950s-1980s). At this point, nobody like that and this joke would contatin angry comments. Don't ever post that comment anymore, this is clearly unfunny.

Extended theme sounds a little slower in tempo compared to the short version.
