1981 Bombardier KD ex Dublin Bus KD70 (preserved by myself since September 2019) seen here on a short test drive following some work to the engine and gearbox. The roar from the Detroit 6V-71 really is something to behold!
KD70 was in service in Conyngham Road garage rom 1981 to 1995, and was then converted for driver training duties, where it remained until it was withdrawn in 2001. It was then bought by the now defunct Glasgow Bus Museum (Busworld) and driven to Glasgow where it was stripped from the middle panels down.. The bus was completely alien to the very capable people in the GBM, and the restoration project stalled, until eventually it was abandoned. in 2008 the bus was repatriated to Ireland and was dry stored from then until I acquired it in September 2019. I bought it as a complete unknown and I took a big chance
For a bus that was towed down to my storage shed a year ago, to now be starting, stopping and driving under its own steam; is something that I am extremely proud to have achieved with a lot of help from fellow preservationists. KC48 now has an old friend from its old garage to keep it company. Watch this space
