I bought this car several years ago. (Yes, really!) It’s in great condition despite being nearly 40 years old. It’s been something of a project for me ever since I got it. There are small dings, dents and scratches on the sides. Some small rust holes and corrosion spots, and it looks like the previous owner might have bumped into something really hard to cause the dent and scratches. The interior started to wither away not long after I got it. The fabric on the ceiling, behind the rear seats and on the sun visors just flakes right off. The carpeting is still hanging on and the seats are still decent. The top of the dashboard has a small crack and is fading. All easily fixable. Now for the internals. I knew before buying the Corona that it would most likely have issues since it’s so old. However, I wasn’t expecting to have to essentially restore and rebuild nearly every major component in it. The timing belt was fine. It was the transmission, radiator, fuel pump, spark plugs and carburetor that needed to be either rebuilt or replaced completely. I’m hoping that the 22R engine will hold strong for a few more years (since its supposedly a real low mileage car and not one that’s had the mileage tampered with) but we’ll see. I’m lucky that there are a few places that sell quality rebuilt early 22R engines or will rebuild the original for me. I love the car and I’m a die hard vintage Toyota fan, but I do wish that the seller was more honest about the state of the vehicle.

The Toyota Corona ("crown" in Latin) was the predecessor of the front-wheel-drive Camry (derived from "kanmuri", Japanese for "crown")...it has been the best-selling passenger car in the USA for many, many years!

Sweet looking Toyota Corona. I've always loved this generation Corona. I'd prefer this any day over the later Cressida or the front-wheel drive Camry that replaced it. I've never seen one in this nice condition. I hope it went to a good owner who will take care of it.

Cereal Marshmallows I'd buy one if the condition was right. It doesn't have to be perfect, as if it came off the showroom floor, but it does have to be driveable, everything on it has to work, and there are no rust holes to compromise its structural integrity.

The トヨタ・コロナ has always been a favorite to me over the more average トヨコロナ , it used to be the トヨタ トロナ for a long time, but that one seems dull nowadays. :) Serious now, amazing car, a big thumbs up to you Nathan for your almost wizard-like capability to find these rare cars in more than good condition!
