"We'll have all that and more. On The NFL Today!" She was a big part of my Sunday afternoons as a child. This was the gold standard for pregame shows. She was a pioneer for women in the business and won't soon be forgotten. RIP Phyllis George

@@jasonklose3318 Little did we know that we were watching history every Sunday. I hated to learn of how she was treated. Boxes of hate mail from the old boys club sexists hell bent on stopping any woman from getting inside their circle. She had several last laughs though. She helped win them an Emmy. People still try to emulate her interviewing skills. All the women in sports media since have her to thank. She made it possible for women to be even considered for such a job. Hard to believe with all of them around today that 45 years ago there was only 1.

Yes, she was a real professional. I assume you're a Cowboys fan. Of course Phyllis was, and everyone knew it. Her being from Texas. But she didn't show it in such a biased way as so many commentators do today on these shows. I can't stand to watch any of these so-called sports pregame shows anymore. Even Irv Cross in a fairly recent interview expressed his dislike for them. But he still watches the games somewhat.I also remember watching the Cowboys-Rams wildcard game in 1983 when they talked to Phyllis from her home in the pregame. I was 10 years old. She was holding her newborn daughter Pamela, who is now a correspondent for CNN. I will never forget that.

Pregame shows don’t have to give out information anymore, except for last-minute injury updates. You can get that yourself any time you want. Before cable TV and the internet, this was the only way you could find out anything about the teams outside your home town.
