3:05 Roy Green was one of the top WRs in the NFL at the time. Converted DB turned WR. Had a then NFL record tying 106 yd. KO return for a TD as a rookie.

I was just a kid. 10 in 1983. Huge Cowboys and Patriots fan back then. I didn't get to see Roy Green play Alot. Didn't get to see Alot of St Louis Cardinals games back then. I think he is one of the greatest players ever to play. His highlights are amazing and like you said he excelled in all 3 phases. For me in the 80's here are my forgotten " greatest players of all time " Roy Green - Mike Haynes - Ernest Byner - Andre Tippett - Wendell Tyler- James Brooks. These guys were dynamic players but didn't get much attention or maybe attention for the wrong reasons like Ernest Byner. They remember " the Fumble" they don't remember how great he was

I remember that tacky & primitive promo for its "Thanksgiving weekend" sports coverage. Though RIP Don Robinson, their announcer passed about a year ago.

@@shanetrimble9265 I will say this, on today's broadcasts, there are a lot of over the top shots; i.e. players standing together like their part of a gang, some special voiceover guy they get to try to incorporate some hip narrative of how important the game is. I guess what I was referring to was that back in 1:00 of this video was that they (excusably) lacked the technology so that's why they just played that music bed (they often used then as well as their college football them at the time) with their late & famous sports staff announce Don Robinson narrating. By they end of the 80's they and the rest of the networks would come up with some cool production that showed that times were moving up.

I think I can try to put a pattern together, as it relates to that red and blue score screen...I may be wrong on this, if I am, I'm sure you all will correct me.. The games that were seen in red 🟥 🟥 🟥 NBC must have gotten these: 🟥 Buffalo-New York Jets 🟥 New England-Miami 🟥 Kansas City-Cincinatti 🟥 Seattle-St. Louis 🟥 Pittsburgh-Baltimore Games Seen in Blue 🔵 🟦 🟦 CBS Must have gotten these games: 🟦 Tampa Bay-Cleveland 🟦 Detroit-Houston 🔵 Chicago-Philadelphia (Many of you must have seen this, or currently seeing this now) 🔵 Green Bay-Minnesota (The rest of you must have seen this one)

Sorta right although essentially the same thing nfc road games were blue afc road were red. Which is also how the networks split back then. Now they still do it that way but they allow for flex games.
