I have wanted this toy ever since I saw it in a “Things You Never Knew Existed” catalog from the Johnson Smith Company. (1988). I just bought one from Etsy in the box with all 6 records! While waiting to receive and enjoy my own, I enjoyed watching your COOL video!! Thanks for sharing!

I had one of these! If I recall correctly, my grandmother bought it for me out of the Lillian Vernon catalog. I don't know whatever happened to it, but it was one of my favorite toys ever! Would love to have it again.

Thanks for demonstrating this intriguing novelty. I’m surprised that this plays so well on the Graphonola. I always assumed the grooves were vertically modulated (Hill & dale, like a Diamond Disc or Pathé). Incidentally, the turntable on your mini-player appears to be running noticeably faster than 78rpm.

I remember this, and I wanted it soooo badly. There are still 2” Mighty Tiny Poynter Products records available on EBay. Circus Clown by The Grand Entrance Band, French Quarter Jazz by the Bourbon Beats, Andy Wilson plays Hot Beach Guitar, and others.

Those are for a 1967-70 "Mighty Tiny" player (also invented by Don Poynter) which are probably incompatible with this player. They seem to spin around 180 rpm, and also seem to be vertically cut. They don't have a lock-groove at the end--the needle falls into the center of the record to stop it.

pretty cool buddy I M a collector of old records and I am familiar with the real they Victrola's did not know they made when that small though, you may want to try putting the records on a 45 player, I think that player was made for 78 which was a record in the 1940s so I think that's why it's going a little bit fast but still very awesome thanks for sharing

I have one that I bought via a mail order catalog in the 80's, but it no longer works....even with a fresh battery. I was a bit hesitant about taking it apart. Could you possibly give some advice on why it does NOT spin? I always kept it in a curio cabinet, but did show it to people. But the other day****poof***, it did not work. Sure wish I could get it going again. I do have REAL phonographs from the 1920's that work well, but really liked this little one.

Honestly, it’s very poorly built. The motor could be bad, or the power switch inside is no longer connecting.
