I rode one of these until the carb fell off! Put 20k miles on it within three years! Rigged a cushion on the rear cargo rack and carried my 6’5 best bud 80 miles to south padre island and back. With lucas two cycle oil and some sea foam in every tank… i got 100 mpg and could top out at 45mph ON A 50CC! Phenomenal machine. After the carb mounts stripped themselves, i bartered the scooter to my shade tree mechanic. He went on to drill new mounts and the thing ran for another 30k. After his rigging, the touch start failed but he could always start it on the first kick! He even added LEDs around the thing, some even synchronized with the flasher relay. I recently bought a 84 aero 80. the first gen areo 50 will forever be my favorite scooter! What a beast! If you can find them… GET EM’!!

Wow cool story! I agree with you, something about the first gen aero makes it the best 50cc scooter ever made.

Nice video. I'm working on a 1984 Honda Lead 50 and was wondering why you'd want to switch to pre-mix?

There is a chance that the oil pump stops working or doesn’t supply enough oil to the engine and then it’ll seize up. By switching it to premix you always know the ratio its getting which makes me feel more comfortable while riding. I’ve never seen a oil pump stop working so i’m sure it’s fine, but this is a common thing that a lot of the scooter/moped enthusiasts do👍🏼
