Wish youtube would show this whole game, they have all the rest of 85 Bear games in their entirety.

I've got to respond to a Tom Brady comment I saw in here about how he'd fare against a REAL defense like the 1985 Bears. You guys are right about the current NFL being soft, but Brady came into the NFL right before they eliminated defense from being played starting in the mid 2000's, so he wouldn't be totally flustered by the likes of Singletary, Dent, McMichael, The Fridge, etc.!! Brady played a few seasons when defenses could do WHATEVER IT TOOK to stop the offense. QB's who entered the NFL after 2005, like Aaron Rodgers, Matt Stafford, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, Trevor Lawrence, etc., are the ones who would be in big trouble if they faced the wrath of real defenses like the 1985 Bears

I'm with you John. For the same, and a few more reasons that you mentioned. I'm completely turned off by the lack of professionalism. I don't even watch the games anymore.

The Dolphins choking the AFCCG that year is one of the great what-ifs in NFL history. Think of how much the historical narrative changes if we get a Dolphins-Bears rematch in the Super Bowl. Either Dan gets his ring by beating the Unbeatable twice, and is probably cemented as a top-5 all-time QB, maybe ahead of Elway, or the Bears establish themselves as the no-questions-asked greatest team ever by erasing their one loss.

Everybody today is screaming to switch to turf. Back then, everyone was screaming to switch to real grass because Bear player after Bear player after Bear player was getting injured because of the turf.

@@thomasfrench2012 Do you think that the 85 Bears playing on turf enhanced the team or would they have been even better on grass? They had great team speed but were also so smashmouth
@thomasfrench2012

@@jon91181 I don't think it would have mattered. But injuries caused by that turf certainly played a significant role in there being no dynasty for what is arguably the most dominant team the NFL has ever known.

Tom Brady is breathing a sigh of relief, that they don't play D like this anymore cuz he would NEVER survive or have had a long career getting rushed and pressured like this. He probably lies to his kids, saying that he's faces so-called tough defenses time & time again with no problem.

They couldn't really play defense like this anymore even if the rules didn't change--the modern West Coast Offense didn't exist yet, and in fact was devised specifically to counter the 46 defense. Offense gameplans basically consisted of run, run, and chuck it deep. The 46 doesn't work if you have a QB with a quick release who can fire off short, quick passes that beat the blitz. Which is exactly how Marino shredded them. Once other teams adopted those tactics the 46 was going to die out. According to Football Outsiders' metrics, this actually wasn't even the best Bears defense of the era--the '86 defense graded better. What really set the '85 Bears apart from the other Ditka Bears teams was how good the offense was. With McMahon out for most of '86, that aspect of the team fell apart.

Tom Brady as long as he had a decent receiving core would eat this time alive. They play man to man and have 8 men in the box the 07 Patriots or any of his 2010 patriots teams would cook this bears team welker, gronk Edelman would dust those line backers and Randy moss would need unstoppable man to man. Unless they can pressure with 3 or 4 it’s a rap.
@MrSpyderjack

@@JJJJ-he8bz Nope! That Bears D had exceptional athletes and Brady would be spending his afternoon running for his life vs the Bear's blitzing 8-man front, either throwing the ball away just to get rid of it or eating dirt getting sacked. And both Edelman & Welker would be getting their bells rung being speared by the likes of Fencik, Duerson and Wilber Marshall who also had the ability to drop back into pass coverage. Gronk would be too busy trying to line-block just to protect Brady from those rushers. The NYG D in SB 42 did a pretty good job containing that 07 NE O and they didn't even have half of the talent of that 85 Bears team. All the Chicago O would have to do is play "ball-control" running the ball with Payton & Suhey keeping Brady & the NE O on the sideline while allowing their D to rest and stay fresh, and also allowing Mac easy opportunities to make plays with the Bears' passing game. Bears in a typical NFC-style physical power-game romp!

@@MrSpyderjack the giants got pressure with 4😂 the patriots dropped 38 on them the game before and it took and it still took an act of god for them to beat the patriots. The bears would get destroyed sending 8 guys there would be no one to cover Randy Moss would be a alien to that defense they couldn’t handle flawed 12-4 Dan Marino would makes you think they can handle a far more complex offense with more talent plus the patriots offense line had one bad game it’s a much bigger and more athletic line than anything the bears faced they would have to send 9 guys to get any pressure and Brady would eat that. The bears also the bears offense is just Walter Peyton the 85 patriots shut him down but didn’t have an offense you can’t compare the 85 patriots to the 07 patriots😂 they wouldn’t be able to block the patriots defensive line Vince Wilfork is a better version of the refrigerant or they are bigger stronger and faster athletes assente samual would shit Willy gult down you out your mind the 85 dolphins are nothing to the 07 patriots and they shredded them. The gronk 2010 patriots would also kill the bears gronk is bigger than those linebackers and safety they would not be able to cover him he would eat them alive
