On the 12inch leaf spring lift the rear shackles have to be moved 4inches forward?
@MR1967galaxieLTD
8 ай бұрын
You don't have to but the spring will be forward of the shackel and you don't want that.I followed what is done to shackel mount on a B52 spring swap just without the spring.You can find a few videos on the shackel relocation for the B52 springs.

@TeamTopKick

I say go 1 inch more than needed for leaf springs to compensate for the slight decrease in height when the springs break in and also for any future sag you may experience. Also that much arc in the spring i would get it military wrapped just in case you have a spring failure.

@@chevybigblock3311 nah they aint bullshit. Theres a reason for them. Research them. Idk about aluminum military tires. I could see how you would use aluminum military wheels on a regular ole truck to save some weight compared to steel ones. Although military wheels are designed so you can change a tire pretty easily. Also i never heard of military grade aluminum, probably is a thing but most military grade really just means lowest bidder. I heard of aerospace grade aluminum and other aerospace grade things.

I thought shimming the front axle will click your knuckles facing downward? Won’t that totally mess up your steering ? And wear the tires goofy?
@MR1967galaxieLTD
Жыл бұрын
The shims rotate the axle for better pinion angle to drive shaft and does not effect steering or tire wear.It does effect caster which is not a wear angle but does effect the vehicles return to center.

@@MR1967galaxieLTD with all the fab work you’ve done, it seems like you could easily cut the axle tubes from the pumpkin and rotate the pumpkin where you want, then re-weld.
@MR1967galaxieLTD
Жыл бұрын
It would not benefit anything to do that because you can only rotate the diff so far and still keep fluid at the bearing.Its better to increase the distance from axle to transfer case then to have large shims,cut and weld tubes.
