Just bought a 1985 V65 magna and wow at the power. It has 14,000 miles and was garage kept by an old man. Interesting thing is I bought it 5 miles from my home for $2500 In great working/riding condition. I Just rode it 30 miles and absolutely no problems. I'll NEVER sell it. It will go to my children and grandchildren. I'm one lucky and blessed dude.

Bad habit to rest your hands on the clutch when riding a powerful bike, good way to slowly roast the clutch. when you accelerate on these bikes they want to lift the front AND rear, you really need good tires, and leaning forward a bit at take off, or thru corners helps keep the front planted a bit more. beautiful area to ride!!!
@stephaneouellet1439
4 ай бұрын
You're right concerning the clutch use. And at the same time, I have a V65 since the last 40 years (I bought it brand new) and you should NEVER try to "resume" on higher gear. If you are too lazy to use the low gears, you will have problems. Do not hesitate to use the low gear and more RPM.At least, NEVER run it less than 2200 RPM. The Cams will suffer cause the oil pressure will be too low. That's their only problem, the "chocolate" cams. And starting on 2nd gear? Come on... This bike was born to ride with high RPM.

@@mcycleshawn Just poking some bears for fun. Don’t get me wrong for early 80’s tech the V65 was amazing, nice look, with performance. It. was the prime time Japanese cruiser of its day. But it was not without its issues. I remember the commercials well when I was in high school. Just not even remotely close to modern tech. I was merely pointing out compared to modern sport touring bikes or even ADV bikes the V65 is no magical rocket sled. Then once you find the twisties you realize V65 is seriously compromised. I would like to ride one just to experience a piece of past history for comparison. However, losing modern safety aides is simply not worth the incremental risk to me at any price. What I am willing to ride now in 2024 vs. the rider choices available in 1983 are not the same. Lack of self-restraint riding a V65 could end very badly.
