Got an 82 Maxim and was looking for an exhaust. Just came in the mail today and I can't wait to put em on and go for a ride. Just got the forks rebuilt, so those are squared away. Unfortunately I ended up taking it to a shop to get it worked on

Sick bike bro. I actually just got an 85 maxim and I’m having some trouble finding a rebuilt kit for the carb, can’t seem to get it going, I’m new to riding so if you have any advice for this bike I’d be thankful it’s hard to find how to videos on this carb

Edgar Rodriguez what is the carb doing
@bikesandbangs
6 жыл бұрын
Edgar Rodriguez before i did mine i was able to find ONE rebuild kit for this bike on all of ebay, they were very hard to find, and I didn't need to replace any of the actual jets, floats, or anything, just a good cleaning was all it really needed. The carbs are almost identical on all of the xj's so a video of any of them will give u good idea of how everything comes apart and how to get them off

LOL, my 85 XJ700N cost me $500. and it sat for a little over a year. Mine was pretty clean. looks like Ass due to idiocy, half assed cruiser bars and the tank was painted red which was done really crappily. aside for some TLC and a few parts I did pretty good.

Emgo is a brand that makes a bunch of shorty bobber shocks. Urs are just held on by tw/o bolts each so u could even just Google "shorty bobber shocks" and almost all of them will fit ur bike. I believe ur stock ones are 11.4 inches so depending how much u wanna drop it U r pry gna want 10s or 9s. And most those shocks have a 7 position preload so u have some room for adjustment there too. Hope that helps

Daniel DiBlasi this one I just bought off Amazon, it was $25.99, just search "vertical side mount motorcycle license plate". Pry could fab one up pretty easy but these are pretty durable, ive had one on a bike that went down and it didn't scratch or bend it at all so I would recommend it. Universal application, haven't found a bike the didn't work on

no disrespect but that bike is in serious need of a shorty rear fender or have the front one pulled, it looks really unbalanced and unfinished. would like to see the adapted exhaust in more detail...

I actually agree on the shorty rear, would make the look flow a little better but that’s our personal preference. I don’t knock anyone for their own style. Was thinking of doing the paint on mine but after seeing yours, sticker bomb don’t look too bad... but then again resale is an issue.. There are enthusiasts out there who love these things bone stock. For now I just call it a rat (it’s not really THAT bad haha)

My virago xv750s shocks are the same as these, maybe the virago 250 has shorter springs, but those pry aren't made for very much weight. Get a project of ur own and post some vids man, always like to see other people's ideas
