I like a more laid back announcer instead of the screaming! That’s why I thought David Bailey was so good in the booth!

That big ol aTk was a turd. American made but a turd still. Then they go right to the “best” 500 made according to most. I myself think the kx500 was a better bike and a hell of a lot easier to ride than the red machine. The last good year for RJ before he broke his wrist/navicular in gainsville at Gatorback. I was always a Jeff Ward fan. Dude was fast on any size bike from 125 to 500s. He could run with anyone. Kehoe was always a great starter.

Horst Lietiner, designer of the ATK's, did some pretty cool things. I would love to hear a long interview with him before he passes away.

Guy Cooper got hurt prior to the 1988 season so he didn't get to race the first few races. If he had been healthy he probably would have won the title.

"Ronnie, you are known for having a very smooth riding style. How did you get that smooth style?" "Well, I don't like any kind of other exercise, so when I get tired on the bike, instead of going to a gym or something, I just figure out how to ride and not get tired." JMB did the same thing.

I was lucky enough to grow up with the family of the man doing the post race interviews. We went to a lot of races in those days. Man time flies and so did these dudes!! The gentleman's name is Pepper Petersen and he's still with us these days. Happily retired in down south these days. Thanks for sharing and thanks Pepper!!!

Keeping a 125 one the pipe took a lot of shifting back then. I preferred the 250 because I was kind of lazy. The big bore two strokes scared me, they were blood thirsty machines.

What was so goofy about that? Coming out of the right hand corner with no distance to get much drive he and any good rider will load the bike with your weight pushing into the footpegs going into the face of the jump to compress the suspension more than not doing that and as soon as the bike rebounds and lifts off the lip you unweight the bike to lift it higher by hopping as the suspension is returning to its full extension. It can give u a bit more height thats needed to clear a difficult jump. You never bunny hopped a bicycle? They dont have suspension but the concept is simuliar. Some people unweight it to the point they jump up off the pegs, obviously Johnson does something right as he went 1-1 in dominating fasion . The announcer says the basic same thing in the following race/ track . Nothing goofy about it .
