This was an excellent instructive video. I put the knowledge gained to work. Followed your instruction to a tee and now I have fully functional wipers again. New the motor was the culprit when looking at the amperage gauge on the dash when turned on the needle was bouncing even when the wipers were not moving. Scary thing driving in poring down rain on the freeway and having the wipers come on and off sometimes with a 10 second gap.😳 Now if I could just figure out the column gear indicator out of alignment fiasco I will be back on track. Thank you.

Thank you sir, I am glad that it was helpful and you were able to solve the problem. It does suck when you are driving, the rain hits and the wiper shuts off. Crazy. I heard messing with the gear indicator is not fun. but that was on an 84 caprice wagon. Have a great day.

I got a 1990 F-250, I'm trying to get my interval wipers to work, I know my wiper motor is fairly old but my wiper switch is brand new. First thing i checked was that wire lol. Its either the motor or the windshield governor module. I hope I figure it out! Nice Video.

Thank you. I hope it was helpful. The module was definitely not put in the right place by the e brake. I cannot remember, but if it did not have a ground the interval did not work. It has been a while.

Doomzdayxx I thought for sure it was the relay/module, because of what it was doing. Turns out the motor was overheating. The only reqson I replaced the switch was because the ground ripped out and there was no way to get it back in there. Thank you for watching.

Man I have to do this too mine, both the switch and the motor ugh... I haven't diagnosed anything yet, Im guessing I should, test motor by putting 12 volts to it or see if its getting hot, she's just running slowly in all positions, Truck only has 60k miles on it. I think ill think about it some more and put some rainx on it haha
@theawakening5548

Rainx is one way to do it lol. IT really is not as bad as you think. I have seen a couple videos on others, but they never say how it turned out after. I am glad that I was able to make a full series video to show people the entire process. Thank you for watching. Good luck.

Can you hear the motor for the pump? If you cannot hear the motor, find where it is and pull it out. You can hook the battery and hook it up to see if it works. If it works check power to the motor. If it does not replace the pump. Follow the rubber lines and make sure they are open and hooked up to the pump.

now im having the same problem but my motor is not getting hot and sometimes fails to park is it possible i just have a grounding problem?
@theawakening5548
3 жыл бұрын
You could have a grounding issue, check the relay as well. The relay is in a bad spot right by the parking brake so if you use it and it gets hot it can mess it up a bit. Is it clicking at all?

@@theawakening5548 No worries. I had my head light switch in an 87 f250 over heat to the point of the lights going out. It was December and running heater full blast. Had to open vent wing and turn a/c on. Never did it again and that was 10 yrs ago. Electrical problems are a hoot.

If I still had the truck I would make one for you. However, the small bolts on it should remove the cowl, I think they are 8mm. You will probably need to lift up the rubber if it is still there. Hopefully you live in a dry climate and they are not too rusty. Good luck.

@theawakening5548

It is possible that it is the motor. However, I would check the ground for the switch. I know it may be different than what I worked on, but I did notice that when I put the switch back in, when the ground was not hooked up I had one speed. That is why I had to get a new one, the ground ripped out of the switch and there was no way to put it back on. If you have not tried already, try tapping on the motor, if you can, while on that speed and see if it does anything. Find the wiring diagram and see which wire is for intermittent on the motor and stick a test light, if you can, on that wire and see if it is getting power. Check the governor module if it has one, it would be in between the switch and the motor. That is all I can think of right now, if I come up with something I will share it. Good luck.

I wanted to know hows the best way to get motor off step by step....blah
@theawakening5548
4 жыл бұрын
Step by step is not too difficult, unless you are in an area that uses a lot of salt on the roads and you have to deal with a lot of rust. 1st remove the top vent piece covering the motor. They are under the rubber piece. This will give you better access to the bolts to the motor as well as the rods connected inside. There will be a clip in there to remove to separate the motor from the rods. Be careful there is little space so try not to drop the clip. If you do drop it get a magnet and try to fish it out. The toughest part is the cover, because it is screwed in not bolted I think. If you are in an environment where it is rusty try some pb blaster and let them soak in it for a while. You could use a little heat, but be careful.
