I remember vividly when Lindros refused to play for Sault St. Marie and ultimately played for Oshawa. When the Generals went to play in Sault St. Marie the Neanderthal coach of the Greyhounds Ted Nolan incited his players to attack Lindros in the first game they played against each other.

gretzky started in 1979, lemieux, the game needed a big name, over hyped, never hit 50 goals, never raised a cup. too much hype for nothing. never kept his head up, zonked mega times. i still fell sorry for him, the concussions will hurt him for the rest of his life.

he fell significantly short of all the expectations that were placed on him by NHL scouts and executives when he was a teenager. He did have a good NHL career. But, it wasn't a great career. He was grossly over-hyped as a teenager.

He wasn't overhyped at all. He was the most dominant player in the world for a handful of years before the compounded affects of injuries started to take it's toll.

Was not overhyped at all. Great career is debatable, but he’s in the Hall of fame. He had about a 3 year stretch where he pretty much dominated and was one of the most feared guys in the league.

@@KyleMacSkill He was so much bigger and stronger than all the other kids that he never had to worry about keeping his head up. That fatal flaw would never allow him to stay healthy in the NHL.
