Steven Pate should have known what was coming to him. Such race manner might be considered within limits in Australia track race, but not here in Japan. I am familiar with Phil Liggett's commentary through Le Tour de France and Giro de Italia, but I didn't know he did Keirin commentary as well. Good to hear his familiar voice.

man, this is an awesome race! Pate is a monster (compliment meant here) but Huebner deserved the win. And Phil Liggett is the best commentator

Nice, Manchester is only 42, and thats steep. Keirin racing looks real good.
Raced against Pate, one of the strongest, toughest guys on a bike I have ever raced against! In short he ripped my legs off!!

the commentator says in the intro speech: "the keirin is about speed" ...unlike every other events on two wheels from road races to MTBing?

when he says the keirin (or motorpace) is about speed, that's really ALL it's about. other events employ more teamwork, timing, strategy...you probably knew that...

A man surely on the juice, from a lean slightly built young man in 1986 to resembling Arnold Schwarzenegger in 4 years. No wonder us clean guys never stood a chance

yes i know there are strategies, but in the end speed decides everything, man it's not chess! but if you are talking about strategy, it's there in the keirin also. from this aspect keirin is also not just about speed.
