The 405 sedan was rare enough in the US. I had no idea that Peugeot even bothered to import the wagon version. Still miss the lovely 505. That was a fine car.

The 405's were everywhere in the UK. They're at the age now where people are beginning to seek them out and the prices are rising. Slowly, but rising. The Mi16 is a great sports saloon.

It's a station wagon. With a manual transmission. I like. And hey, 10 seconds 0-60 ain't too shabby for a 1990 station wagon.

I love the 405 series; it is good looking. It’s a shame that Peugeot didn’t make it in America, for their cars are beautiful..

Peugeot 405 was a very underrated car. It was one of them cars that had that put your foot to the floor. And flew like a rocket. With that 1.9 Diesel engine. It definitely had that off we go.

I'm so glad to see this! It seems like it was a great car that never got a foothold in the American market. I've only seen two 405 wagons on the road and only a few more of the sedans.

Peugeot505 Man perhaps not, but in the United States, getting parts was a problem, and finding mechanics who knew how to work on it was also a problem.

Huge succes in France at that time but rare now (gone to north africa). An easy to fix reputation, bad plastics interiors et great reliability (diesel) . Never seen a Taurus or a Legacy. The last 508 is beautiful but sales poorly in our SUV world. C'est la vie.

Probably the best car Peugeot ever made, the 405 series. All engines were good and rust was finally under control. After this, it went slowly downhill, as went all car makers. Misses with engines mainly (1.6 THP anyone?). In other words planned obsolesence entered the engineering. Still, compared to most European cars, Peugeot quality is above average, I would say. Not Toyota like, but close.

I hate the French and I hate their cars but luckily neither one seemed to last very long here in the US. This car came out when I was 10 / 30 years later I don't ever remember seeing a single one. I have been obsessed with cars especially odd ones like this since I was a little kid. I grew up in a very upper middle class Area ( Boca Raton) Where odd cars from Europe peppered the parking lot of every condominium and shopping mall. They must not have sold very many? I wonder how many silly people rely or believe that motor week would actually give a true and fair review. Notice he never mentioned Pougeot's herenden's reliability history And why they Never have become a sale success. They compared this with a Subaru legacy and Ford Taurus wagon?

My dad has two 1984 Peugeot 505 diesels that still run. One has 250k and the other has roughly 140k. These cars would last if you maintained them correctly and have a knowledgeable mechanic to work on them.
