Thank you for a look at the old and new Scania trucks. I started my driving career in a 1988 International 9670 COE. It had a very large steering wheel compared to todays trucks. Not to mention low power, lots of wind noise, and a rough ride. Your look at the 1990 Scania reminded me of that. I appreciate and enjoy your truck videos mostly because you did the job at one time and know what you are talking about.

They are a pleasure to drive and have more living area inside than a cab over engine truck. However, in urban and congested areas they are harder to maneuver safely compared to a COE truck.

Love these videos, my Dad was a Driver all his life, I used to love going to work with him as a kid, this was back in the 70s he drove a 111, he done regular runs across the iron curtain, into Eastern Europe, Bulgaria, Chekaslovakia, Yugoslavia, and into the Middle East as far as Turkey, Syria and Saudi Arabia, its unimaginable today, but they did back then, I was/am very proud of him... Good day mate :)

I used to drive a 112m and later a 113m in the late nineties. Loved driving them. You were complaining about 360 horsepower? We used to drive fully loaded containers all over Germany Belgium and the top of France with 320 horsepower! I would be crawling up the hills with forty tonnes and the engine screaming flat out in six and sometimes even fifth gear! Still had a great time though. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

Used to drive a 113M Car Carrier (7 car) with the 360 horse motor and 10 speed synchro box. Have to say that the recovery truck must be geared quite low as I recall doing around 1200 revs riding the 100km speed limiter. Beautiful truck to drive back in the day. Only the Volvo N12 was more comfortable, but I would say by any measure other than comfort, the Scania was the best truck I ever drove. Showing my age here but 360horse in a 7 car carrier was a fast truck at the time too. lol The power and torque figures on modern trucks are just staggering. Great video by the way. Loved it

In 2014 I was starting with an MAN 3 axle tipper from 1990! It was just pure Hell!! I mean the lights of the trucks back then where plain awful, Shifting an 16gear double H by hand is a royal pain in the ass, especially uphill with a trailer and fully loaded, the 320hp engine was just adding the rest to the mess, no AC of course, summer was like baking, no noise insulation what so ever. The steering was a rule of thumb. Breaking was just a little hope the thing will come to stop at point. Heck even the few mirrors the thing had without heating were just shit. It was pure horror, driving this thing. And nothing made me happier in 2017 by getting a brand new Axor tiper with everything on it. Alone not shifting by hand made the driving 10thousends percent better and more enjoyable. Nothing but pure despite for old Trucks on my side. Some do look pretty good, but i dont have any temptation to drive anything from before the millenium -.-

@@zsoltlukacs8438 Yeah, maybe the THING we got was just the minimum config you could get. The lowest price possible. Just a steeringwheel and a seat. But even today I just hate this truck with passion. Only good things where it was a 13l 5cylindre, uphill streets where drenged in pitchblack smoke and it was loud. Like if a far away Tank was terrorizing the streets. And it was 6x6, you literally couldnt get stuck in it. And even the bumpers were made od solid metal. You could slam the thing into a Bunker and break the walls if you wanted to. But no. Never again. Good thing it broke down by rust. The cabin shakes off from the chassis at one day and the front axels slipped out the gearboxes. God, what a hell of a truck it was -.-

In East Africa the 3-series is still used extensively in long distance haulage, and especially the sixes are popular, and revered for their longevity and distinctive sound. When used as tankers they will often shorten the exhaust, leading it out to the side below the bumper and as a straight though pipe without a muffler. With this setup they sound wonderful pulling up long steap inclines at full turbo boost delivering maximum torque with revs in the sweet spot..
