You haven't really addressed the point that I made Shaun. I never said that the current crop of Lamborghini's aren't great cars. When Richard Hammond described the new Huracan in relation to the past Lamborghinis he's reviewed, he said, "As a car, this Huracan is probably better than all of those other Lamborghinis. But, those cars are better Lamborghinis." And that is precisely my point. Great car or not, the latest crop of Lambos have strayed a long way from the original philosophy that Ferruccio had when he gave up tractor production in favor of cars. And, that is why I regard Lamborghini as having effectively died with the Diablo. We are, philosophically speaking, dealing with a completely different company today.
@blazermdx

Philosophically speaking, all auto manufacturers are completely different companies than they were 60 years ago. In fact, most manufacturers are completely different companies than they were 60 years ago. It's called progress, I'm most instances.
@flyingphoenix113
7 жыл бұрын
"It's called progress, I'm most instances." In most instances, yes. And, for the most part, progress and evolution improves the breed. I'm still not a fan of the 991 911's steering as opposed to the 997, nor am I a fan of the direct injection, but I cannot deny that it is an incredible car to drive. Having driven both modern and classic Lamborghinis though, it's a different story. The reason the 911 and corvette are the Rolexes of the sports car worlds is that they possess consistency between generations. Do they make changes? Of course. The G-forces are higher. The styling has changed. The numbers are bigger (in everything from horsepower to MPG), but the cars still feel fundamentally similar between generations. New Lamborghinis, with the exception of the 550-2 Gallardo (and possibly the 580-2 Huracan. IDK because I haven't driven it yet), all feel completely alien compared to the Miura, Countach, and Diablo. The three cars I just named, the "real" Lamborghinis, if you will, also feel completely different. They are only united by their V12 and the incredible sense of alienation. Driving them is unlike anything else. Even the Aventador is as easy to drive as a VW golf once you get used to the turning radius and size. You have to be absolutely thrashing a modern Lambo to make it feel special (particularly with DCT cars like the Huracan), and that is why these cars are not deserving of the Lamborghini badge. EVERY moment in a Miura feels special. Same goes for the other two. That reference to emotion may seem silly, but supercars, PARTICULARLY Lamborghinis, are emotional purposes. Want a car for its performance numbers? Go buy a Camaro ZL1, Hellcat, or a GTR.

The interior always gives away a cars age. Looks very modern from the outside, although I think the cheap plastic black license plate frame with white lettering on the back is bad bad bad. Another great video.

That licence plate frame is to show off his business. Better than some aftermarket lettering on the car, keeping it somewhat original I think.

Gerfall It was in a later year that Lamborghini introduced the Z32/R390 headlamp assemblies into the Diablo. Z32s don't have pop-up lights.

My girlfriends cousin in L.I. got this car, brand new on his 18th birthday in ‘91. A month later, he wanted to prove to his buddies that he could drive underneath a tractor trailer. He did, until the truck hit the brakes. He never felt a thing. Great car for guys like you Jay. Not for 18 year olds.

The Diablo was the last of the really memorable Lamborghinis and the only one that actually has performance merit before Audi took over. First 200 MPH car they ever built and had looks that I don't think they ever surpassed. Modern Lamborghinis try too hard to look far out and exotic that they don't look good and seem awkward.

+Jason Stanley I agree, the new lamborghinis look like they're trying too hard to be exotic and end up looking awkward.

+Google plus sucks Maybe it's because I grew up in the 90's but I remember all the supercars back then like the Lamborghini Diablo, Dodge Viper, McLaren F1, Ferrari F40/50, Saleen S7 and they all seem so much more than todays supercars even though they lacked the technology and refinement they had the performance and rawness that makes them so incredible. It's all about their image now. Selling cars for profit.

+Jason Stanley Legendary cars, worth more than any of the modern hypercars. But also there's a ton of regulations and standards new cars have to meet, so the designers can only do so much.
