I had a FJ1100 overbored to 1314cc with a Weisco resleeve kit, ported the head, added a APE coil spring clutch to handle the power, and of course a Dynojet carb kit, K&N filters, and Yoshimura slip-ons. All said and done it would walk away from anything until the Hayabusa came out.

Loved all 3 of mine ('86, '90, '93-also dyno at 102HP). The FJ is a lovely design. While I don't personally name my bikes, a friend used to call it the FatJet.

Прекрасный мотоцикл все на высоком уровне: дизайн, управляемость, надежность. А как удобен в дальних поездках.

gosh that's shiny. Now here's a thing. In the workshop manual I noted a discrepancy between the total volume of oil and the recommended amount to refill, a difference of around 200ml. And I puzzled over this for years. At each service I would remove the lower fairing and the entire exhaust system and often removing studs in the process. And then one day reassembling the oil filter housing I noticed that little 8mm bolt and it clicked: this is the oil drain. It was never the intention of the factory to dismantle the bike every 5k....

It's a 19mm bolt for oil drain, right between the downpipes 2 and 3, no dismantling of the exhaust needed. That is if you have stock exhaust. That 8 mm on the filter is just for draining filter housing. I never do that actually since most of the time you need a new copper washer it and I don't have it nor I want to give 4€ for it.

The discrepancy is probably between a new engine block without oil and what you need to refill if you just drain the oil

Anyway, I have two workarounds. 1 bore a hole through the collector immediately below the sump drain, weld in a section of pipe and you can reach the plug with a socket. 2 fit oil line to the sump drain hole and have the plug easily accessible at the other end of the oil line which could be routed out near the centre stand, or directly over the chain :)

Has there been any head work done to the engine or is it completely stock.

I think I regonize the delkevic exhaust I was thinking about getting a system for myself but looking at it they have quite a few different silencers and I was wondering what you thought about yours and if you would have gone with a different set

Sweet ride, I got one myself. What mods (if any?) are done? Looks like wheels and brakes, and a new exhaust, Corbin or Sargent seat. Any engine work, or is it relatively stock?

For regular (hard road riding use) absolutely no engine work is needed until you get to a point where you need to put oversize pistons in. On early years (FJ 1100 and '86/'87 FJ 1200 I think), gearbox tends to give you troubles by popping out of second. Probably caused by not engaging totaly in second, reving hard and then when it pops out the first time it probably bends the shift fork, making it hard to completely engage it afterwards. Fixable,

I know dynos vary but my xjr, 1300 with 4 degree advance, 36y intake rubbers, a custom made shorty exhaust, k&n filters and a bit of jetting, it made 125hp

Hello, Is it a full delkevic 350 mm system you have mounted or only the slip-on? I´ve heard that one need to remove the chin fairing and that the oil plug is not accessible when fitting the full delkevic system. Can you confirm this?

Probably 17" exup wheel, I fitted one to my FJ12, made a huge difference to the handling. 👍
