Wrestlemania 9 took place 4 days later after this interview on Sunday 4th April in Las Vegas. Hogan had just returned to the WWF and was facing IRS & Ted Dibiase in a tag match with Brutus Beefcake. Hogan was 39 during this interview, and after the tag match he would then win the WWF Championship that night when he beat Yokozuna after Yokozuna had beat Bret Hart and immediately challenged Hogan to a title match. Is strange he never mentioned Wrestlemania during the interview. Hogan would fight with a black eye during Wrestlermania 9, due to being hit by a jetski, but the urban myth which was backed up by Jim Cornette is he was walloped by Randy Savage. This would have occurred during the timeframe of 4 days between this interview and Wrestlemania 9.

I can't believe I'm finally seeing this- this is the interview that caused my mum's utter hatred of Hogan. She couldn't believe he used Jamie Bulger's murder to promote his song. She spits blood to this day if I mention his name, 31 years later! Also quite hilarious how he tried to make excuses for his dramatic 'weight loss'. It's because the WWF's then owner, Vince McMahon, was currently on trial for distributing steroids to his wrestlers. Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior had shrinked back down to human size by this point, to avoid the inevitable lawsuits!

Pro Wrestlers are a combination of amateur wrestlers, stuntmen, gymnasts, actors, front men of bands and improv performers plus they have to have incredible memories. Imagine an actor having to do their line in a single take infront of 20,000 people in the arena and a couple of million live on TV... Yes the matches are predetermined but go look up how many of them died before they were 50 (Macho Man, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Andre the Giant, Ultimate Warrior, British Bulldog, Big Boss Man, etc, etc the list goes on over 100 from the 80's/90's) either from the toll they put their bodies through or through the drugs they used as a crutch to mask the pain from doing it 300 days per year. Hogan is one of the few left from his era, he just turned 70! In short pro wrestlers deserve much more respect than they get!
@awesome.gaming

Fake is implying they're playing pretend. You can't pretend with a 300lbs guy. I wrestled in the past and the word "fake" is beyond ignorant. It's pre determined. Wrestlers do get hurt and sometimes severely. It's tremendously rough on the body long term. Hogan did well here taking it off the chin and defusing the situation with sort of education, rather than being defensive. Scripted, yes. Fake, it is not.

This does not mean that he is a liar. Hulk Hogan sometimes speaks as Hulk Hogan and not as terry bollea. He said it once in court when the lawyer asked him. He said that he speaks as Hulk Hogan, which is why he exaggerates his words sometimes. He also said it in his interview with The Voice as well. He said that I am taking advantage of that. It is clear that he is doing this because he is tired of the journalists trying to attack him, which is why he speaks like Hulk Hogan. You do not distinguish the difference between his speech as Hulk Hogan and his speech as terry bollea. you want to talk abou lying. some of you wrestling Fans are the biggest liars on the face of the earth. He is right. Bringing in families through sports entertainment Vs good old fashioned pro wrasslin' will always make more money. Aew wanted to go against this but now Danielson, mjf, omega are all injured probably due to wreslting stiff / showing off tougher spots more often and now major talent is all out at the same time. If everyone is hitting pile drivers for a 2 count every week, combined with blood and guts, wrassling/fight fans will get bored and demand more or leave. Actually quite shrewd by Vince/Hogan to move in this specific direction. Family based entertainment.
@FangMcFrost
8 ай бұрын
Omega is currently out due to Diverticulitis which has nothing to do with how he wrestles. Danielson is injured due to an accident, which I wouldn't say was due to how he wrestles either as Undertaker suffered the same injury in 1995 and both men wrestle totally different styles. It's just one of those freak accidents that happens within professional wrestling. As for MJF, his torn labrum is a recurring injury as the same injury occurred for him back in 2020 and around that time he was hardly wrestling and when he did wrestle, his matches were around five minutes long, so I think his injury can be put down to how he wrestles as he's probably been wrestling in a way that his body can't handle. That is all on him however, as he's also been doing spots on the fly, such as doing an elbow drop on to the floor when the table (which would have cushioned his fall) collapsed after he placed Jay White on to it during their match at Full Gear. MJF could have just moved on after that spot failed but he made the mistake of continuing with the spot anyway but without any protection (that being the table).

It's Entertainment! Personally, I find it helps to think of wrestling as like a circus. You've got your strongmen, your clowns, your acrobats, your daredevils, and your freaks. Wrestling just adds storytelling. Mexican wrestling in the early 20th century was a way of telling biblical or morality stories of good and evil. That's why they wear the masks - they're playing characters. Wrestling is the most unique business I know. There's nothing like it.

This is the most natty looking Hulk Hogan I've ever seen, and he looks great.

Interesting video. I always enjoy watching the appearances of wrestlers on UK television from back in the day. Thanks for uploading it, brotherjackdude!

He’s rocking the Hollywood Hogan look 3 years before it was even a thing.

He was wearing all black already in the 80's. You can find quite a few pics in PWI and other mags back then. One pic that always made me laugh is him basically cosplaying as a Gopnik, black muscle shirt, black adidas track pants, lol.

Wrestling didnt catch up to pop culture until 96/7. If you watch music videos from 1993 compared to wrestling it is like another decade, in the attitude era it fit right in with music and other TV in its presentation and edginess.

He's advertising ISO-Pro, it was a product that WWE used to advertise all the time in the 80s and 90s

God I hated this crap daytime telly chat show, it was so mind numbingly dull. But Hogan was very graceful and charming here. I couldn't tell you what happened to the interviewer, though.

WHY so much hatred for an innofensive chat show? It seems you are the one with the problem

If you lived in the South West of UK Judi Spiers used to read out birthday cards that kids had sent in and her side kick was a rabbit called Gus Honeybun . The things we remember. She went on to host Pebble Mill and then they sold the land and flattened it.
