Life was good when I rode in the back of my father's gs300 as a child. We were both young and full of life. He later told me that car gave him "the boost and confidence" he needed in life. And to an extent I feel it gave me that too.

I love this car, it's my dream project car! It's really fun to drive!! Stock for the time being as I have no plans for any modifications for a while I have a 93 FULLY EQUIPPED (nakamichi stereo, heated seats, etc) in really good condition for it's age. Except the paint is dull so a detailing and wax/buffering job will bring it back to it's former glory. 245k miles at the moment, aiming for 999k (1,000,000 miles) I wonder if that 5 speed auto from the 96 model year would change anything.

Sheesh these were expensive as hell. At 40k it was the same price as the LS400 three times years before this video was shot. Its hard to justify this over the LS for such a small price difference. No wonder we see more LS and ES of this gen on the streets. Even there are more SCs on the road today than the GS. Now i know why. But nonetheless these are well appointed cars.

RIP GS 1993-2020. I never saw many of these back in the day & I haven't seen one on the road in a very long time now (At least for a year tbh). I have a 2016 GS350 F-Sport that I absolutely love & I'll probably keep it forever! I will always be a Lexus/Toyota fan as most vehicles I've purchased so far have been Lexus/Toyota. All of them have been super reliable as expected. My grandma had a 1992 SC300 that she drove for twenty years & replaced it ten years ago with a new 2012 ES350 that she's still driving today & will likely be her last car (she's 89 now).

Knew a family who leased this car brand new. It was okay, but even the Father said he had slight buyer’s remorse. He was looking at a Mercedes-Benz 320E initially and met someone who raved about the Lexus. It influenced him to get the ‘93 GS300. He was more of a Lincoln guy and had two Continentals - one before the GS300 and one immediately after the GS300. You could tell he was far more satisfied with the Lincoln’s. The Lexus was an impulse buy. About a decade ago, we got on the topic and he said he should have gotten the Mercedes, a Cadillac or a Lincoln. He said he felt the Lexus lacked heritage and “soul.”

The 1993 Camry did 0-60 in 8.5 seconds, 7.5 with the manual. So this was a bit slow. If they were serious about calling this car a performance sedan, they should have used the supra’s twin turbocharged inline 6, which produced 320 hp at the time.

When this car came out, it didn’t sell as well due to the fact that it was higher priced than the BMW 5 series which is the gold standard of the mid sized performance luxury sedan market.
