Be sure to fit the New Copper O-Rings under bolts, on both ends. If you unscrew the fuel filler cap, it releases pressure in the fuel line & the filter fittings. Fit vice-grips/clamps over a rag & over the flexible fuel lines to diminish fuel loose. Undo the Phillips Head clamp screws before the 17 MM compression & banjo bolt fittings, for less time under the dripping filter. Wearing nitrile gloves will reduce the fuel to wash off your hands. Put a date & mileage with an ink marker on the side of the new fuel filter. Thanks for this helpful W124 M-B 300E video!

Mr. eallevato, Mr Yen & Co., Many thanks for your Mercedes fuel filter replacement tutorial. I do not have a E320 - I have a 1988 Mercedes 300se. There is not a lot of stuff on KZitem for my car - especially for this. I did find one for my make & model , but while okay - I still wasn't sure about some details as I'm less familiar with my car model's rear-end stuff. (This is my first gas-merc in 14 years - I usually prefer diesel Mercedes.) So in sorta' desperation (well not really desperate 'cause I'm at home - not stranded) - I searched again. Your video did the trick. Very clear - addressed my questions. Plus - I didn't break anything which is why I sought out another video even if it wasn't about my specific model of merc. Thanks again - ~cdh

Thanks for the video. I have a 1989 300E with the M103 engine. Looks identical underneath there. My fuel line coming from the tank runs just like yours. Over and then back under the filter. Thanks again for posting this. :)

Two copper O- rings come with the new filter. The O-rings fit over the front bolt, one on either side of the 'banjo' fitting to seal that front connection. The rear 'compression' fitting gets no seals. On the rear fitting of the filter, loosen the rear-most 17 MM fitting- the other two hex fittings are fixed. This is the compression fitting and it is on tightly, so spray it with PB Blaster, or such, a day ahead of the operation. For the screws that hold the F.F. bracket, just loosen, do not remove them. Hengst is an OE filter, M-B type quality.
