I loved Bristol and Martinsville, even when Martinsville was one of the least popular races on the schedule. I was lucky. My Dad moved to within about a mile from Bristol Motor Speedway, thus allowing us first dibs at season tickets. During this period Bristol was adding seats virtually from race to race. We immediately got 4 in turn 2, We could see all the way around the track. The racing was awesome. Then they introduced the progressive banking. After a couple races we hated the racing and decided to let our season tickets go. We were not the only ones. Now what was once the hardest ticket to get in NASCAR you can walk up to the ticket sales office and sit anywhere you want. Way to go NASCAR. Just another one of your stupid decisions that has ruined the most popular motorsport in the world. Yes I said world. In the 90's and early 2000's NASCAR attracted more fans to their races than F1 and IndyCar combined. IndyCar will always have the Indy 500 and used to sell out every oval track they went to they only had half the races NASCAR had and the Brickyard 400 was just a hair under the attendance as the 500. With first playoffs, which caused Jeff Gordon ( the overall points leader for 2004, 2007, & 2014 ) his 7 championships. Then Lucky Dog and stage racing, all decisions made under the drug addict Brian France Jr have put the last nail in the coffin. However, we still have KZitem and the old races to watch. But don't be mistaken millennials, nothing compares to going to the race live and in person. It's up to you to put the sport back on its' feet.

True Darrell Waltrip style which he modeled after David Pearson. He'd run his car easy. Let all the cars wreck that are going to wreck. Let all the cars break that are going to break. Save his brakes for the end of the race. Then pour it on at the end. 3rd place is pretty good for a guy trying to run his own race team and be the driver also. I had season tickets for 15 years at Bristol. Couple years after they changed to progressive banking I let them go and never have been back. I didn't like the racing after they did that.

NASCAR, a truly American sport. They shouldn't try to be like F1. Indycar just vetoed medallions. How are you going to find the next great team owner and driver? No team should be guaranteed a spot in any race. Best qualifiers should be the only ones in the race. What they have now is like communism.

Dick Trickle and his inside joke "everybody is smokin' at Bristol. It was at Bristol where I first saw him smoking cigarettes during the cautiouns. He was a driver that started late and never got a good ride. He could have won a lot of races with a top shelf racecar

Anybody know why Ray Evernham had a Valvoline hat on?

Valvoline came on as a team associate sponsor for all three Hendrick cars as well as to be used in all of Rick's dealerships. It was a multi-year deal.

He let Jeff know he didn’t appreciate getting run up the track, rattled his cage, and they all moved on.

Kenny Irwin wrecked up in the turn and as the car came back down he got Dale. Dale was fast as hell that day.
