Remember the reason that iconic LS1 exist is because of the LT1 laying down the groundwork for such phenomenal engines. Still a great platform if you got the money to throw into it especially when that bad boy is stroked.

I'm new to the muscle car scene (and LT1) so perhaps you can enlighten me (serious)... usually I hear about people doing bore rather than stroke in most engines (or even shortening the stroke) to get more RPM/HP. With an engine with so much torque already why would you want to increase the stroke? Is it more compression than boring out?

Don't get me wrong he beat me and was leaving me but I expected it to be by a lot more than what it was. If I had long tube headers full catback and maybe a cam I think things would have been a little different. Some cars excel at different speed limits. The only real advantage to an LS swap is it gets you away from the optispark even though the LS1 was an aluminum block with all the crap it it needs to work it ends up heavier than the LT engines. It’s a little easier to get power out of an LS engine but your performance potential difference at the end of both designs isn’t enough different to worry about

Stay on track for the LS lol and do some more research for fuck’s sake. If you are going to leave it stock then maybe stay LT but even for longevity the LS will go 300k before burning oil and on it goes. LT needs heads bad
@sergiocarmonajr7127
3 жыл бұрын
@@ztwntyn8 the only reason the LS1 is better than the LT1 is that it came modded out the factory. It has 1.7 roller rockers, a good flowing heads. that already around 30-40 rwhp which is why the LS1 puts down more power stock. Put the same mods on the LT1, and you’ll get basically the same numbers put down. yes the LS1 is bette, no opti. BUT 24X is literally 1/4 of what an LS swap would cost

Incorrect. "Though the LS1 has a lower static compression ratio; its cylinder heads have improved combustion chamber design and intake ports that breathe better. Those features allow them to make more power. The clean-sheet-of-paper approach also allowed design of the cooling passages around the chambers to be more efficient such that the engine can put out more power than the Gen II but yet have coolant flow in the conventional direction to eliminate problems with aeration. * With a better combustion chamber and water jacket design and improved antifriction technology in the block, pistons and rings; it made sense to go back to the normal-flow cooling system*."
