Can u imagine This race was run 1995, which was 28yrs ago and the purse money for this race is 3million dollars. That was alot of money in those days. Here we're in 2023 and and u have a Grade 1 race running for 1.5million dollars. This to me shows that instead of Jamaica racing taking 10 step fwd. taking 10step backwards
@mikewilliams592
Жыл бұрын
That's not a fair comparison. Those Grade 1 races of today that you refer to are not the Superstakes. A better comparison is what the Superstakes purse would be today vs. the Superstakes purse of '95. There were Grade 1 races back then too, that had lower purses than that year's Superstakes. So it's best to do a Superstakes (today) vs. Superstakes (then) purse comparison.

Hussey had actually "hands up" Hosang earlier in the Caribbean Sprint Championship when Heir To The Throne ran down Milligram. Dorval, by Texas Prospector out Tiney Winey, had a rare turn of foot and was one of the better stayers in the history of local racing and was subsequently voted Horse of the Year in 1995. Racing was still grand at that time. Big up yourself, Rohan!!!

Just to give us some perspective, that particular day Hussey used an animal that was of mediocre talent to beat HoSang aboard the talented 3yo Milligram in the Red Stripe Caribbean Sprint Championship race; then about 2 races after, he (Hussey) again won the Red Stripe Breeders' Stakes with War Zone for trainer Wayne DaCosta, OD. I've shared the names of these other TOP TIER jockeys to show that their INCLUSION to the roster of a prestigious event as this would've entered a new RANGE of variables and caused up to and including a totally DIFFERENT outcome. The organizers at the then CTL (caymanas track ltd.) never needed to be rocket scientists to have known that. In other words, their invite with a live ride- MUCH, MUCH TOO RISKY! The house always wins.

@genestrachan5040 I'll put it to you this way bruh - becoming a champion jockey especially in the land of great prosperity - requires way more than your skillset. Case in point, Emelio "Bimbo" Rodriguez homegrown-saddle- MAGICIAN, found out the hard way. Skills alone are NOT enough, there has to be some sort of "sacrifice" for elevation. And too, one has to be a particular "shade".
