Jim Kelly's final game as he retired after the game. He was a good QB

Calling him a good QB is an insult almost. Dude probably wasn't as talented as Dan Marino, but he was a better leader and his team usually trounced Miami when it would count.

The Jaguars were a second year team, but they were hardly a bunch of youngsters. They were full of savvy vets and castoffs from other NFL teams who played for a long time.

Welcome to the 1996 playoffs as we start in the Wild Wild Card game with the Jaguars and Bills as the " Cinderella Jaguars " 🐅🐅🐅 playoffs tour begins early on doubleheader day on ABC is class : Jimbo's Final Ride & End of An Era 🐂🐂🐂😢🏈. Buffalo has been undefeated at home in the playoffs and been a tough place to play, except they meet their match in Jacksonville who won 6 of thier last 7 to punch a ticket in the playoffs in thier 1st year as an expansion team and showing the whole NFL they can play with the big boys, Mark Brunell with toughness once again comes through and so does Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell and a rejuvenated Natrone Means,Tony Boseli,Jeff Lageman and former Eagle Clyde Simmons put in work by turnovers and pinning Thurman Thomas to the turf at Orchard Park and Jim Kelly, on would be his ' Funeral' on this day gets knocked by the underdog Jags and kept coming at the Bills all day long and knocking the Bills out of the playoffs as also it would be the end of the era soon for Marv Levy as frustration on the sidelines by him as it was his final playoff game for him. The wagon was ambushed by the Cinderella Jags on this day as the best is yet to come as their next stop on the " Cinderella " tour is : Denver and what would be one of the most biggest upsets in playoff history next Saturday. Phil Hansen stated after " There Not an Expansion team, anymore with Simmons,Lageman, Boselli, For me ,I'm Sick of It" . Make that note as you're bout to witness the Jags rising in the late 90's and Carolina falling. End of Lesson ( Mike Patrick, Joe Thiesmann ,Mark Malone,Lesley Visser on the call of this game 12:30 😁🏈 ) .

Well Jacksonville/Carolina was able to buy those players because the NFL at the time gave 95 expansion teams money and 5 years no salary cap restrictions and free reign to spend it. The idea was for the franchises to have less of the issues that plagued the previous teams in the 76. In the 95 and 96 alone Panthers and Jaguars spent on notable free agents at the time when free agency in the NFL was new. They were raiding teams stars and giving big money to players to play for expansion teams. After that the NFL would not give the browns and texans the same freedom due what happened. The texans in 02 were more of salary cap dumping team for the teams that had gone over the cap in 01. The players they picked were from such teams.
