Absolutely my favourite iteration of the Land Cruiser - modern but still with a retro feel. This is gorgeously done JW.

I spoke with this man about doing something similar to a 4runner. He was straight with me. Told me it wouldn't be easy. Guy builds $100,000 cars and had the time to talk with me about a good replacement option. The quality of their product is obviously there. Apparently customer service is just as good.

My husband had a stage 3 restoration done to his 80 Series, last year... I own a 2019 4Runner TRD Off Road, but we both prefer the 80 for our overlanding.. It has solid axle front ant rear, so articulates like a sick giraffe's neck (lol I got that from another channel).. She is our remote touring rig and even has a long range fuel tank.... We live in Northern British Columbia (the last frontier), so we need good solid 4x4 just to get milk at the store lol. Beautiful work, as usual, Jonathan, all except a GM engine in a Toyota...Eeek.. That does look easy to work on though.. However, I drive Toyota's for that Toyota reliability! Edit: I just did some Googling about the engine and it is reviewed as reliable, overall.. Maybe I am just a stubborn Toyot purist lol

I am always amazed by vehicle restorations done by Americans. They spare no expense and produce perfect machines. We love these types of cars in Australia but you will never find this much expense or care go into one. Once they are old and broken they get scrapped, end of story. I guess this kind of work is too expensive here, but I'm glad you guys can do it and honour the fantastic engineers that made some of the best cars in history.

The ls3 is a much better motor and very sought after in the 80 series community. I have 2 80 series and am swapping to the gm 6.0L v8 and the 4l80 transmission. It makes them faster and lighter, able to tow more and better mpg. It will last as long or almost as long as the straight 6
@jaygill3037
3 жыл бұрын
@@mdf7697 A uz would cost as much as an ls, make less power and probably get worse mpg. I know you're right, but it's always nice to see manufacturer matched swaps, like building your own performance model.

I really enjoy the videos you are making! As a long time 80 series owner, I am so happy someone is taking the great car that it is, and modernizing it! two questions: Steering: I am sure you revealed what kind of steering box you use on the 80 in one of the videos, but could you please repeat what brand you use? Body: If you do find rust (liko so many of us living in the salt infested parts of the world do) Do you simly replace all panels, or do you repair. What parts do you use? My dealer is not able to help me with anything. Thank you again for your hard work!
