10/18/1997 Auburn, Al, #6 Auburn (6-0) vs. #7 Florida (5-1)
Auburn would enter the game undefeated and hoping to continue it's perfect season while Florida was trying to bounce back after a loss to LSU the week before. It was Florida's first loss of the season and a loss that snapped their 25 game SEC win streak.
Florida would start the game with a new quarterback in true Freshman Jesse Palmer who was the backup but was starting because of a suspension to quarterback Doug Johnson. Palmer started off well leading Florida to a 10-0 lead but Auburn would comeback to tie the game 10-10 at halftime. Auburn quarterback Dameyune Craig would be under pressure all game as the Florida defense would sack Craig 9 times. In the 2nd half Jesse Palmer would be benched and 5th year Senior Noah Brindise would be put into the game to help a struggling Florida offense. Brindise would help the Gators regain the lead in the 2nd half and pull away for a 24-10 win knocking off the undefeated Auburn Tigers.
