I’ve watched this and other videos several times now, and I’m confident that I can do this job. Prior to this the most I’ve done is change my oil and switch out a pvc valve. The parts/tool list you provide is EXTREMELY invaluable. Thank you so much for sharing your work and most of all the details!

This job isn't too bad. Just takes time. Changing fuel injectors is much tougher. Biggest thing is get the Brass tap to knock out the race if you decide to change them.

Thanks for video. Two questions: 1) did you put outer bearing in before putting wheel hub back on spindle (I assume you did?). 2) I'm having trouble get hub back on all the way do you tap in the inner wheel bearing more than just by hand and seal?
@fusecon
4 жыл бұрын
Yes I did but I do know what you are talking about. The inner (rear) assembled nicely with the seal (I probably used my rubber mallet to tap around to make sure it was seated. You can use a small piece of wood to spread force out across the seal). The toughest part was getting races out and reset. If you got that step done (or skipped) then I do recall putting the hub on and the front bearing hanging back. I may have put the hub on and wiggled the front bearing to get it moving or cleaned some grease off the spindle/inner bearing a bit. Once you get it on the next tricky part is getting the right torque as you tighten things down. Don't over torque. I ended up doing drivers side once but passenger side 3x including replacing the whole hub. It should be smooth when you drive with no noise at any speeds (

After you take the rotor off to repack the bearings, can the CV axle be removed without having to unbolt the spindle? I need to repack my bearings and replace the axles. Great video.

Hey dont know if you'll ever see this but what'd you use to get the races out? Tried tapping it out with a screwdriver and a hammer but I might not have hit it hard enough. Anyhow, was tapping it out the method you used or a puller of some sort?

A brass punch. I think I mention it in comments and tools. There is also a video on it too. Not by me. It is hard to get out and you need special tool to set new ones. I would avoid unless you see wear or nicks. Brass won't damage the hub wall and steel will. If hub is damaged buy a replacement. I had too. Good luck.

Look at amazon or local HW stores for a Mayhew brass punch. Look in comments for video on how to remove. It takes some force. I do not recall exactly. Take a look at my comments above for all parts and you can reference the Nissan parts website: parts.nissanusa.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_product=89630344&ukey_assembly=8132956 Looking at parts it appears only seal for inner. Ones I got did work well from rockauto. After 200k I felt original bearings were still good.

That would be the race. Hard to replace. If old race is not scored or damage might be best to leave alone. You’ll need brass punch to remove old ones and tool for installing new.

Sunex 10202 4 Wheel Drive Spindle Nut Wrench - this allows you to easily remove the locking nut and tighten it to proper torque. You can buy from Amazon. Maybe you can rent from auto parts store. All tools I needed are listed in my description above. Good luck.

Wich side of lock washer must face outwards? ) when I reinstalling it, I put the lock washer grooved side face outwards because screws can sit there 😂
@fusecon

I think these are made to go either way. The outer bearing will likely wear/groove the inside of lock nut--helping you know direction. I'm not sure lock washer will be grooved/worn. If you got it to fit and car drives fine you can call it good. If things are too loose you get a thump sound as you increase your speed like I had. Go back and tighten up.

Do you have to replace the hub? Can you use the old hub? What do you look for to see if the hub is bad? Good Video!!
@fusecon
6 жыл бұрын
Avoid replacing the wheel hub. I only did it because of a thump thump sound I was having relating to bearing replacement. When I removed the races I scuffed the wheel hub because I used a steel punch and that might have contributed. Best and easiest action maybe to NOT replace the races unless they are scuffed/damaged. Only repack or replace wheel bearings. Removing and replacing the races is a long process and there is potential for error. If you do, make sure you use a BRASS rod/punch to help knock them out to avoid scuffing the steel. Brass is soft and will be damaged over the steel. Good luck.
