I currently own a 2000 NB1, buying it nearly two years ago was most definitely one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. I've had more fun in it than in many other cars, even ones that are much quicker. I've carved back roads, cruised along the Pacific Coast Highway, and slammed through gears on freeway on-ramps with an ear to ear grin the whole way. Mazda built one of the best and most enjoyable sports cars ever made here, even if it's not very powerful.

Saddest I ever saw was a salvage title 03 Mazdaspeed with original hardtop being parted out because he didn’t want to own a car with a salvage title.. Point is owners know that parting out a car is always cheaper than selling it whole expecially seeing as they made so many of them, have a huge aftermarket, and are getting older so parts are wearing out. I think in about 10 years they will start to hit a stable price.

It's for child seats. Some new cars have weight sensors to detect if a child is in the seat and it will then turn the airbag off automatically, this car however doesn't have this technology so a manual cutoff is needed. Children can be injured by the force of the airbag, also for very small children a backwards facing booster seat is very common. In this case the airbag would only hit the seat anyway, that can be dangerous and since there's no benefit to leaving it on it should be turned off

Third Star, how? The Miata chassis could handle it. The difference in weight between the F20C and the abysmal 2.0 Liter Mazda is negligible. In addition, the F20C doesn't produce that much more torque. It's a high revving engine which is more ideal for cars that are made to handle with light weight.

I don't think the Miata would need a new engine anytime soon, considering they got the Fiata 124 Abarth. Also the new K and F engines are turbocharged, are they not? If so, that could anger a few peeps if those replace the naturally aspirated SKYACTIV engines the MX-5 currently uses.

This was $20,000 in 1999. Over $30,000 today. $25,000 is almost $40,000 today. Imagine paying 40k for a Miata.

In Australia they’re about $50,000aud, roughly, whereas the Toyota 86 is $36000. Even second gens with over 150,000 miles go for code to 10k aud (7k USD)

Posers 4 speed automatic? I have a real issue with that statement, for not everyone wants a manual transmission. Yes, it's a sports car, but there's some out there that can't reach the clutch. You'll wear out a clutch in "stop and go" driving in heavy traffic, too. Plus, if you break your arm, hand, foot, or leg, you can't drive a manual transmission. If you have an automatic transmission, you can drive if you're hurt. I have had one manual transmission vehicle, and the manual transmission doesn't give you any better mileage, either. Some drivers out there like myself prefer a "less active style of driving," and the automatic transmission does exactly that. Since my wife wants one of these and she can't reach the clutch, it will be an automatic for us.

If you are hurt, you shouldn't be driving at all.

Lol poser (Just being sarcastic there) Anyways back then automatics were trash, they got worse gas mileage and were slower to their manual counterparts. Also the clutch won't wear out in stop and go traffic any more than an automatic will, in fact back then it was common for automatics to fail. Manuals aren't hard to drive and they don't make driving any less laid back so I don't get what you're trying to say here. If you're injured then that's a valid reason to drive an automatic until you've recovered but that's such a specific situation. If your wife can't reach the clutch then how can she reach the gas or brake in an auto? The clutch isn't further away and you can always move the seat forward anyway

Why? I understand it for a boring commuter but why would you prefer them in sports cars? Yes modern automatics can be faster than manuals but this is an entirely different thing, back then automatics were trash. That 4 speed slush box is nothing compared to the 5 or 6 speed manual that was offered

Automatic is Sac-religious in these cars. Pathetic. What a Loss if someone made such a Poser Choice.

Noisy little thing, suited to those on a tight budget..........what dose it say about those who buy it? They could'nt afford a porsche boxter, so they bought this instead.

I can easily afford a porsche boxster, but still considering a miata. Less pretentious, less likely to get keyed, much less expensive, much less repair, lighter weight. Not sure which I will get yet, but you can cross shop these, believe it or not.
