Lets not forget the comments that Colin Montgomerie made about Jim Furyck's swing prior to the 1999 Ryder Cup. Classless.

See the way Justin Rose celebrated getting that critical 17th hole and then the win on the 18th? He celebrated as a gentleman should, restrained and courteous, and nothing like that dancing ape Leonard!

I agree. As an American, it came down to Stricker, and Stricker did not play well all week. Europeans played a lot better and, yes, Seve's really played a role. Well Played.

I still remember this like it was yesterday as a kid and it still disgusts me the behaviour from certain USA players and spectators shouting abuse at europes players throughout and that incident trampling over oles line when he still had a putt to tie.even the late Payne Stewart said he was ashamed to call himself an American that day with what he saw from the crowd shouting abuse at players,a disgrace to the ryder cup no doubt

come on guys, as golf fans lets not lower ourselves to bitter comments, arguments. We're not idiotic football hooligans. it was a great comeback, a great spectacle and lets do it again in 2014 and show the world why golf is or should be considered as the best, most beautiful and classy sport in the world!

This incident is the best thing to happen to European golf. It motivated European players even more to make sure this never happened again. How many Ryder cup's have the USA won since Brookline? 1? LOL

I think the worst thing about this whole sorry incident is that, to this day, there is a number of American fans, who genuinely don't see anything wrong with the behaviour of certain American players and a fair number of American spectators during this Ryder Cup. Suppose this is the nation who has given us idiots who think shouting "mashed potatoes" after someone tees off is in someway funny. Murca.......staying classy, since.......well never.

This is one of the best moments that ever happened in golf, golf for a brief moment was almost a sport and not just a game on this day. All this talk about "class", it seems class to some people means golf claps, never showing any emotion, and walking like you've got a stick up your butt the whole round.

rapsody No...one of the best moments that ever happened in golf, was the Americans amazing fightback, and Leonards fantastic putt, but thanks to the behaviour of some of the players, wives and fans, it is often overlooked.

Here's what I don't like about the Euros and Jose Maria specifically, whining about the celebration being premature, and disrupting his rythym: He always took 3 minutes to line up his putts anyway. He'd walk around the whole green at least once or twice, then look from straight across the hole, straight behind his ball, again and again.... he could have done all this during the celebration which was off the green or away from his ball. Instead he was stunned. Then he missed his putt.

"Europe" is a very broad term, we come from a collection of countries and we have cultural differences between each other, but our team always gets together and plays despite those differences. However, when it comes to understanding the cultural differences of US fans and even players at times, we are at a loss. I can't understand why some crowd members make personal outbursts at our players our behave in the manner that they do. On a golf course its just an absolute disgrace.

Ask any "proper gentleman" american golfer if this makes him proud or a little ashamed - i bet he says 'ashamed'. And so they should be. Look at Phil Mickelson's behaviour on the 17th of the 2012 Ryder Cup after justin Rose sank his putt. Therein lies a lesson for every person involved in this shameful display. I'm so glad that Olazabaal won the 2012 RC - for this one fact alone! Mr Mickelson, you are a true gentleman, and for me your name will always be synonymous with the true spirit of golf!

I think nobody realizes something it can see in the video: 0:10 a spectator makes a noise to disturb Olazabal exactly in the middle of his swing. Dirty behaviour 0:19 Oli turn his head and point a finger to the spectator 0:27 The man with a brown cap is the fat bastard who makes unsporting noises. To make matters worse he defies Olazabal and does rude gestures. 0:31 Jose Maria inform to a Ryder Cup referee I can imagine all the nasty tactics yankee public made to make angry european players

Like the European crowds are not disruptive? Are you kidding me? One incident and somehow the big bad Americans are are rude and those angelic Euros are fine? Please. The yelling is part of the Ryder Cup and it happens in America and in Europe. At least the Americans don't whine about it. Between Jose Maria and Sergio, I am not sure which Spaniard whines more.

unbelievable how many idiots think they're better because they're from Europe or the US. Let me ask you this, what role did you personally play in where you where born or in any Ryder cup wins or defeats? Thats right, a keyboard warrior who lashes out ignorant xenephobic petty insults at each other over who is the best. Personally i think both Europe and the US are both amazing and they both need each other badly
