I have had this antenna for about 6 years. It works well. I use it indoors because we are not allowed to mount an antenna outdoors. I have it about 12 feet up so that would be like being in the attic. One trick I noticed is that the positioning should be away from the signal source. If you imagine the device as a "starship" then point the "front" away from the signal source. In other words the device should be mounted on the pole AWAY from the signal source. Try that and see if it makes any difference. It did for me.

Here is a helpful hint. I use to install cable and we would NEVER, EVER put a "basic" cable wire next to a power line (We use special cable wire for the poles and such) so since you posted this antenna right on from what I can see is a power line, the power line will throw off interference and cause channels to not come in, I bet if you moved the antenna about 10-15 feet away from the power lines you will see better results, just trying to be helpful here.

I know this Is a older video I bought the 1byone 720. It claims 85 mi. So if the 60 does this well mounted under power lines the 720 should do good mounted above the roof line and not close to anything else. Seeing how good this works mounted wrong is real helpful. A 4G LTE filter may clean up a lot of the iffy channels.

Your video is informative. However, unless I've misunderstood your wiring scheme, your signal chain is sub-optimal, & by making some simple, inexpensive changes, it's very likely you'd improve the reception of the some of those weak channels. If you move the Power Injector (that feeds power to the antenna's circuit board) closer to the antenna and then add an $8 to $13 UHF / VHF ( / FM in some models) 6dB (or possibly greater) Signal Amplifier (which would both make the gender of the connectors mate correctly & boost the signal PRIOR to the long coax run), the signal that ultimately reaches the TV should be significantly better. Essentially, you'd rearrange your signal chain as follows: Antenna -> coax to the point it first enters the house -> Power Injector -> Distribution Amp (IN) -> Distribution Amp (OUT) -> long white coax run -> TV (Antenna IN) & if this is going to be a permanent setup, make sure to use the same type / quality of RG-6 Coax & F-connectors that competent cable companies are currently using for new premise wiring.

Even omni directional antennas have a sweet spot that brings in the best reception and for the most distant stations the sweet spot has to be pointed in that direction.....

If a tornado was coming toward my house, the last thing I would worry about is whether my antenna worked or not :) Awesome review; very in depth. I'm thinking of getting this for my campervan. It would only need a four foot cable and be mounted on the roof. Do you think this might be good for that use?

Did you have to move the amp to the basement where the cable came in from the roof to distribute the signal evenly to your other TV's? And did you find a sweet spot on receiving even though it's supposed to be omnidirectional?

My original comment wasn't helpful at all so I returned to delete it and post another, however it isn't here for some reason. Ever since TV antennas became available commercially, it has been incumbent on the customer to provide a mast that fits the supplied hardware. Most product descriptions provide that information. The length of feedline provide by the manufacturer to be what would work best with the gain provided the included RF amplifier . Again that length and the fact there is an amplifier would be included in the product description. Shouldn't be surpise the plastic radome is light weight, and bracketry isn't a robust as that is provide with a boom atyle of antenna shouldn't be surprise. You get what you pay for. To sum up read the product description to insure what's included in the package will work for you considering TV location, and potential antenna mounting locations. As always one size generally doesn't fit all, so one may have to build their system from individual compoents. The upside of that is one should end up with higher quality system for not much more of an investment. take your time to install F connectors correctly. Terminate any open connections with 75 ohm terminators.

Hey, i know you are trying to help US all, but mounting on the electrical pole is a BIG NO-NO. 2ndly, you can improve "signal strenght" by placing the amplifier further Upstream. In other words, closer to antennae. The closer the amplifier is to antennae, then you will be "amplifying" a stronger signal rather than a weak signal Downstream. THANKS for your efforts in this video however.

remove it from your electrical pole and mount it on the edge of your house or on a seperate pole specifically for the antenna about 30 - 50 ft or higher to get those 70 channels. also you.got to much cable splicing try to keep just one cable going to the splitter and the other straight to your tv.

My homemade round antenna gets over 100 channels and i just put it on the porch. Always use an antenna signal booster.
@waswestkan
6 жыл бұрын
Then again 100 channels is only relevant to your location/installation, that true of all installation, always has been. Meaning the number of stations one receives isn't indicative what another will receive. An antenna mount at 30' I can only expect to receive signals from 5 broadcast locations, at best 11 data streams/channels

taking something apart - isn't exactly "reverse engineering" in the usual sense. Not too impressive. Not too impressive at all. What do you do "in real life" ? Additionally - getting a base line inside - doesn't really compare to testing an antenna > OUTSIDE < . Seems to me - you should test each antenna INSIDE and OUTSIDE. That would give you better data.
