This is hands down, without exception and absolutely not open to debate, the single best instructional video on how to use a laser engraver that exists on the entirety of the internet. You even mentioned the need for USB conversion when using a mac. Bravo.

Awesome video! Thank you! Just got a CR-Falcon to play around with. I have worked with acrylic a lot. Dark materials are denser typically, and I am sure the black makes the laser absorb 100x more light than a clear or light colored.

First bit as I watch through your video. I really appreciate that you touch on the topic of the different types of laser tech. CO2, Diode, and fiber: because not a ton of other videos really dive into that technical aspect of what they are basically. Really really liked that. Also you did a really good job of touching on what the differences are between each and the price point one could expect when choosing one of these types of laser. I started watching this video to learn more about the laser I just purchased and learned a significant amount about the market well above what I'm willing to pay but loved learning on where this can go.

Thank you for sharing this video. It has been the most informative one I have seen covering the Falcon 2. I have been deciding between the 22 or 40 watt units. Other reviews do agree the 22 watt units does a better job on fine detailed engravings. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia

Mine has arrived and I have a couple of observations. Multiple screws on the assembly were loose. The adjustment screw for the dovetail mount for the laser had to adjusted -- the laser head wobbled on the mount. They did not include the honeycomb bed and when I reached out to Creality, the honeycomb bed does NOT come with the unit. Other than that it seems to be working well with Lightburn.

A year later I have a falcon 2, but I can't get past the importing the falcon2 file. My MacBookPro running Sonoma 14.5 will not connect with the falcon2. Nothing ever shows up in the little window next to "devices" in LIGHTBURN when I connect the USB cable. Can you maybe share what USB drivers your MacBook Air has in the system file? Love the video!

Irv, when you talked about the feet and their adjustability, a question came to my mind: can you remove the feet or somehow fold them away so that you can put the whole machine directly on a surface and engrave that surface? Something like engraving a table top or wooden/linoleum floor by placing the machine directly on the surface, so you could move the machine around and engrave multiple copies of the design on a large surface.
@MakeWithTech
Жыл бұрын
Yes. The feet just unscrew. Very easy to do. But you do not need to do this. The laser has sufficient range to reach all the way down to the surface you are engraving on.

I feel like I should warn you about the BIQU Hurakan 3D printer. I have one, it's been a trouble maker since day one, and I think I know why. It turns out that there are TWO GROUND WIRES connected to the FG post of the power supply. On the lower one isn't fully on the post. In fact, from the factory possibly, or possibly doing the resonance tuning caused this, the lower two-prong connector is barely touching the FG post. I would really appreciate it if you would comment on this idea of connecting two ground wires to a single FG post on a power supply. From what I've read it's considered ILLEGAL because it's DANGEROUS. Thank you for all the great work you're doing.

'25,000 mm per minute' (7:30). Thousands of mm - that would be metres. So 25m/min. Of course, using mm/sec would make more sense. 1) it is the correct SI unit. 2) The values will normally be in the range 1 - 1000, so the mm makes sense. 3) Any vector on the machine will never take minutes. When I loaded Lightburn, it defaulted to mm/sec- so it looks like they agree with me.

@@MakeWithTech Uhh its not the cable.they have a problem recognizing them . ive switched to several cords , reloaded firmware, rebooted updated OS, this is over years of use of 3d printers and now laser. I have total of 4 macs , imac, macbookpros , mac mini, etc. they never see them. the usb c ports work bc they see other drives, etc. I ve gone on several forums people all having the same issue. I recently heard about the bridge thing lightburn made for this issue but you have to have one of the big lasers with ethernet connection. I dont know what you are doing to get your mac to recognize the laser but I wish you could share it.

I’ve been down this road with a Mac not recognizing a diode laser. The solution I found was using a Samsung brand USB-C cable. The only problem I’ve experience since using the Samsung cable has been the Mac’s USB port goes to sleep. The solution to this is unplugging the cable, turning off the laser, turning the laser back on and then reconnect the cable.

@@MakeWithTech Of course, all the Creality errors are fixable but they should not have to be, Creality could fix these errors with little to no cost to them but they dont and are more or less giving you the finger once they have your money.
