@@andrewjohnston7129 I completely agree with you. Caddie's don't tell their player what they did wrong immediately after they hit. Old man knowledge comin' at ya! 😂 I've been golfing in Michigan for literally decades & knew from the second I saw what you were wearing you were gonna get sick. Michigan rain soaks right into your skin & those leggings must have weighed like 10 pounds by the end of the round. And day two was even worse being sick with nothing covering your legs & a sweater too thin to actually protect from the wind. Remember, you can ALWAYS take layers off & a warm hat goes a loooong ways. (I know extra layers restricts a bit but the modern rain gear isn't bad. Sorry for the novel & all that being said, you're an absolute trooper & should be proud of yourself. Last thing for future reference, Midwest greens generally tell the story at the hole, check there for the grain & uphill, into are always REALLY slow & the opposite are always lightning fast. Especially on tough tracks. Good luck on your journey young lady & props to pops for dragging the bag in those conditions. 💯

I just wanted to add my two cents, I have been playing my entire life( since 9 in 1956) and have recently found two things that added distance to my tee shots. I know the kick point on my driver has stabilized my consistency in contact. That's an easy request of any clubmaker. I'm at mid kickppint at 75. I also tried employing a more single plane set prior to my take back off the tee. I have employed a tilt so left shoulder is raised higher than right and I lift my grip end of club up toward my belt buckle just before takeaway(kind of part of a pre shot routine) so when I pass through the hitting area everything is cleared out. I noticed Scott Sheflflee doesn't hit a draw and has consistent distance straight off the tee.

I gotta say, you may have felt like you came up short, didn’t get everything you wanted from the event.. I think you got a lot more than you know. You handled the situation with class, and you’re just a teenager. You recognized you were impacting the other girls pace, and you bowed out. That’s respectful. I think you’ll look back, if you haven’t already. And recognize so many things that you did well. And how you responded when things didn’t. Many your age would have turned to anger, and lashed out. And a side note on your dad, great work. You guys have a great bond, I’m sure he knows exactly when to push you, and when to lay off. Hats off to him, it’s not an easy position to be in. I think you guys did great together. I definitely enjoyed the episode. Thank you for the upload, keep pushing! You’re so far ahead of where you should be at 16.

I usually don't comment. I have been a touring professional after retiring from a short professional baseball career. I learned from my coach who played on tour for 14 years that you have to play with the same "spirit " and same mentality as you do when you post your best scores. Tournament golf inherently makes that difficult, but its possible if you learn what your breathing is during your best rounds. I don't want to advertise anything so I'll just say that Jordan Spieth advertises for the product. I love how relaxed your body is through impact and beyond. I know you had to learn that! Play the shot that is called for. Don't play safe, and want to make the 10-15 footers more! Want it as much as you want the 4 footer for par. Its hard to give you all the things I have learned. Surround yourself with great players.

In a tournament setting though, isn’t it a bit overkill? She even says herself about how much positive affirmation in all her other videos serves her well. The tone was much different in this, not just the difficulty and the tournament setting, condition, but the critical nature and over analyzing during the round can rattle someone. Simpler is better. On the range and in other rounds, sure, but not in this tournament. Awesome to see Gabby competing professionally, sticking it out, and she will have many more rounds. Great learning experience. You are going to learn what works, what doesn't work, how to mentally strive through a lot of tormoil rounds. I think this is most important... imaging missing a field goal on national TV... have to stay mentally strong and recover. The good thing is you have all the tools, swing looks good. The only thing you're lacking is experience. My best piece of advice playing at any type of level like that is breathe/breath. You have to be able to play without letting the moments of pressure get ya. Put yourself in as many tournies as possible and get used to pressure shots until it becomes normal. Great vod. You have a cool channel to watch and you are very cool.. I’m a lousy golfer but learning from watching this video…I was a competitive tennis player when I was 18 and wanted to be a professional tennis player when I was young…your competitive nature for golf that is ingrained in your being I can definitely relate to…

I know your dad has done a great job but unless that was a trickery of editing. Id want my caddy not to be putting conflicting thoughts in my mind while im standing over a shot or putt.

Great job! You showed tremendous courage and tenacity. In the Army we called it ‘sticktoitiveness’. As good as you are and as grounded is a testament to your parents. Kudos to all. I love watching you grow and especially enjoy the family dynamics when you show them.

Dad has soo much nervious energy its incredible, in the first round he tried to take over her process, he made her analize herself even over putts, "more weight in the front foot"he never let her find her flow even though she struck the ball extremely well, his instrucions were not concise but confusing, " just a nice swing here, not a jittery one" there was no positive energy at all. I saw at least 2 putts, gabby had the line, dad miss read it and gabby missed.I bet dad is not a golfer himself, i would bet on it. For the love of god, second round dad could not have maybe taken precaution and forseen the possibility there could be some rain and maybe taken her to buy waterproofs, poor girl was playing in a hoodie, soaking up the rain, this infuriated me , did he actually just say " ive never been so uncomfortable in my life" why? Cause it was raining? Really?poor girl was shaking. This really infuriated me this video.

Agree with all that you said. It was good for me to watch and learn not what to do with my kids when I'm teaching them. But... Gabby's Dad will no doubtably watch this video and he will learn from it as well. I'm sure he will do better next time.

This is great content. Very real. if you want to understand the challenge of competing at that level then watch this video. The bad bounces and slightly errant swings are going to happen. It is what you do afterwards that counts. The great thing is that you kept your swing and game plan throughout the event. It was also amazing that your legs did not give out despite being seriously ill on day 2. There are some strong takeaways for you from this.

Too many people complaining about dad…this exactly what I expect from an athlete’s parent of her caliber. Very few will understand. If she had a problem with it she wouldn’t have released the video.

Correct response. None of these idiots know the first thing about caddying, nor coaching a young athlete of her ability. Yet they are all very quick to open their pie holes and offer criticism..

Nah this is ridiculous. Dad was being daddy and not caddie. Too much micro managing, too much focus on the inconsequential details. Lots of missed opportunities to build her confidence or be thinking about and taking care of the things she can’t. If you’re serious about golf, you get your parents off the bag!

I agree , Bob Rottella is the king of golf psychology and he only advocates positive talk and thoughts 💭, such as…. There is lots of room right . Put a good roll on it. Smooth tempo . Nice shot . Good swing. Ok, that will leave a good angle. Etc….. Dad would help Gabby immensely if he would be interested in listening to his audiobooks……

Have to agree as well. When I was young my dad had to quit walking with me on the course because he would put way too much pressure and negative thoughts in my head.

I'm happy that I got a chance to view this. It was really painful to watch. I am sure that you love your dad, and he loves you. I don't think he is a good caddie. "Cleanup, keep up, shut up." Too many negate comments, and vocal inflection was negative. I'm sorry to have left a negative comment about your dad. I look forward to seeing your future pro golf tournaments.

If you get sick on every holiday, it is cause you are too stressed out in your day-to-day life. Holidays are the only time your body thinks it has time to relax, and then you are more susceptible to get sick. So try to get some stress out of your day. You have an insane schedule as a 16 year old. You are extremely impressive with your work ethic, and the fact you are the sweetest person ever is amazing. But it can take its toll on anyone.

Sorry but pro golf is hard and someone has to say it plain that was ridiculous to watch. You get a sponsors invite to an Epson tour event that thousands of young women would kill for and you don’t buy rain gear and quit. That was hard to watch. Ps. If you or anyone thinks this is mean, grow up, I promise you it’s what every golfer in that tournament was thinking, and every golfer who wanted to be in that tournament is thinking. No participation trophies in pro golf.

I made my 1st comment after the first round. After watching the trials and tribulations after the rain stoppage. You wouldn't have made it without him😢 Thats a huge step and it wasn't really that bad at all you'd SMOKE me lmao. The best thing about this experience is getting your feet wet and I guarantee you'll get better and better as the nerves dissappear and you just play golf.......big fan gabby you're an amazing girl.......to the moon🚀

You had to battle through tremendous adversity and I’m impressed how well you handled it. This was a big test of your mental toughness, under adverse course conditions, cold weather and the stress of playing in a professional event. All very valuable lessons that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Well done!

I'm sorry to say this, but I know this from personal experience as well, Dad’s should not be caddies!! Especially, if he's trying to also coach you on every shot while in the middle of a tournament and be that negative on the not-so-good shots! Again, I'm sorry but I felt the need to say something after watching just the first hole!

I gotta agree. A coach isn’t necessarily a good caddie and a good caddie isn’t necessarily a good coach. What we CAN say is: once your golfer takes their stance on the first tee, it’s THEIR tournament… THEIR shots. As a caddie, you’re supporting your golfer. All teaching is done on the first tee. Your golfer has to own their own game.
