@@wpautz I like it a lot but yes, it is long. Sometimes we have to park farther out in the parking lot and take up a little extra space and because it's on a minivan, we don't have as much clearance as I'd like so we take bumps very slowly. We have three cyclists in our family and depending on the kind of race my kid is doing, he needs a pit bike as well. It also allows us to all ride plus pick up a friend and their bike. Hi Tommy. You have great videos. Very detailed and thorough. Much appreciated. I am caught between the Kuat and 1 up 4 bike setup. I personally like the kuat but when i saw it in person at Rack Attack in Pasadena, the unit is MASSIVE!! The 1 up, since i can't see it in person at a retailer, looks to be much smaller in size. Can you provide the length of the kuat vs 1 up or do a video about it? I think that is one video detail that is missing.

@@wpautz Hi. Yes i did but have not opened the box yet. I will be putting it together this week and provide some pictures if i am able to upload in this comment section. It will be long no doubt. I expect it to be between 3 ft to 4ft from the hitch. However, the 1 up is thinner frame than the kuat or thule.
@Lasani1121
3 жыл бұрын
@@wpautz Also the reason why i went for the 1 up is because of the security features. I was at a Lowes and walking out when i saw a gentleman standing next to his 2 bike kuat mounted on his svu. I stopped to ask him how he liked the bike rack but timing was unfortunate. He said he went into Lowes for not more than 5 mins and someone cut the cable lock that comes with the kuat and took off with his expensive bike. Now in comparison, the 1 up has a steel pin, similar to what you use to lock through the hitch holes. This pin goes through the cranked arms and wheel and adds much better security. Indeed someone can argue that a thief can get into anything he/she wants to get to but at the least the 1 up will be more of a deterrent vs the cable lock. Hope that helps.

I was worried about this, too. So, I bought some additional Velcro straps similar to Tommy's and, in possible overkill-mode, wrap one around the support bars right where they touch the tires. That way, if tire(s) deflate, the strapping acts as a failsafe to prevent unexpected release, especially with fendered bikes where you might not be able to get things as "tight" as you might with fenderless.

hey nice Vid, have you noticed any of the bars loosening up, some guy put up a video where a few bumps on the road made his bars to loosens up and bike can easily fall off.

No not at all, and I have a few friends with the same rack and none of them had this issue. At the end of the day if that happens just put some loctite on the bolts and they won't lose up again

thanks, I am in the market for a rack, i’m torn between 1up and küat. This i think suits my need, i have a wrangler with a big spare tire in the back.

Maybe my brain isn't working right, but it seems like all someone would have to do is turn the quick release on your front wheel and your bike would pull right off. Is that wrong?

Well first of all I don't have Quick release on my bike and if I only had 1 lock I would lock the back wheel. But since I have 2 I lock both

@@TommyHuynh Okay, I was looking at your daughter's bike @7:49 when I said that. Nonetheless, couldn't someone just loosen the thru axles since you're not actually locking the frame?

@@doubik2 umm yes but someone could actually cut a cable even quicker. Like I said 8n my video I don't leave my bike on my car overnight it's good security when I stop to take a piss or grab something to eat

Thanks Tommy for the video. I am considering on getting the 1up rack over the Thule T2 Pro XT. Your video is really helpful =)

I have 2 friends with the Thule T2. I used to have the older one. I can tell you that the Kuat is better than the Thule and the 1Up is even better than the Kuat. 🤘
