Thanks a million Naptown Tuner. I recently bought a very clean 2011 Audi A4 cheap because it jumped time and bent the valves. After I watched almost everyone of your very helpful videos, I pulled the engine, replaced pistons, rings with new waffle oil rings, timing chains, tensioners, water pump, rear seal, had a valve job done, put it all back together and it fired right up. Passed smog with flying colors and is running great with no codes. I would have never attempted this job without your expert knowledge and instruction and you made it so I was successful in getting it back on the road. Your videos are very entertaining as well as informative. Many thanks and keep up the great work.

I appreciate the videos. You have a lot of good ones. Thank you. I have a question. Maybe you can help me out with. I’m trying to fix a vehicle for my daughter. And it’s a 2011 Audi 2.0 Q5. I’m doing the timing chain and updating the timing chain tensioner. The only issue that I ran into, Is I was using the timing chain kit with the white plastic washer for the crankshaft. And the cam locks. So I utilized everything right. But the only issue when I went to put the timing chain back on. My arrow on my crankshaft is in the correct position. But both of my camshaft marks are facing the bottom and not the top. So I tried to spin the camshaft with the wrench and they could only go so far. I cannot spin them to get the mark to the top, so to put the copper links. I’ve already took off the tray now and removed the cams, Because I was scared I messed up something. I turned them a little more than I should have and I heard one make a pop noise. The exhaust side did. I’m not a professional at all, but I was definitely trying to save some money on her first car. With the cam top off now can I just turn the cams and face the marks up myself? Or how do I get this thing timed? If you have a video that explains that I will watch it. I’ve already lined up the crankshaft and the other chains no problem. When it came time to do the camshaft timing, both marks were facing down. I have no clue on what step I messed up. Thank you in advance!

Awesome video on the new guides, chain and tensioner.. I just did a quick look at my Audi B8 2013 with 71k miles and according to my VCDS in UDS mode using Advanced Measuring Blocks and I got these values: Camshaft Adaptation bank 1: -6.90° Camshaft rpm: 381.5 Angle difference actual-specified: -0.063° Camshaft position deviation from reference: 0.02° My question is do you suspect a stretched chain? I haven’t seen any P0016 codes, the engine sounds great, idles great, no vibration, no ticking.. oil is good been using Euro Amsoil VW502.0 do I need to pull the upper cover put it in TDC and do caliper measurements exhaust cam to guide, guide to intake and overall ? If I’m within 60-62mm and 120-123mm do you think I’m ok? Thanks!!! Actually looking for advice from anyone

I believe it’s the only parts you can get now when ordering the various replacement kits. Mine is a 2014 allroad and it already had the updated guides from the factory. Probably made the difference when a check engine code came up for a stretched chain instead of being stuck on the side of the road with a damaged motor.

Hey Everyone I need some advice. I have a 2019 A4 bought it 2nd hand last year with 53K clicks on the engine. A few weeks ago the engine light came coming up with message start/stop malfunction. I brought the car to Audi and they say its the timing chain that needs to be replaced. My question is…..is it normal on a 5 year old car with now 62K kilometres on the engine that the timing chain needs replacement?? I read online this kind of stuff happens around 10 years or 90-100K. I had a VW golf for 10 years and more KM on the engine and I didn’t have this issue with it

I have a question I have a 2012 q5. It has mid fires in cylinders 1, 2, and 3. The codes that came back are p0300-p0303 along with p0506. I am trying to make sure everything gets addressed. I have seen numerous issues from timing chain to the piston rings breaking off. All the code came up at the same time so I think it’s the timing chain. It’s at the shop but I am trying to educate myself so I can speak intelligently to the repair shop. Anything you can offer helps

I'd appreciate some info on a 2010 VW Jetta Wolfsburg edition 2.0t im working on. Herr's the deal, my buddy bought it over a year ago knowing it needed a timing chain. It had the typical cam to crank sensor code. long start time, occasional stall and check engine light. no crazy engine noise, no other problems but did run. Fast forward a year. I now had time to do the chain. I replaced everything timing chain wise and when it started it made an awful noise like it was out of time so my first though was, I bent the valves even though I triple checked ALL methods of timing. well, it was the phaser pin not locking in so when it started the unlooked phaser pin was allowing the cam to flop around in the phaser housing. what's crazy is it didn't do this when I drove it into the shop? I did borescope inside each cylinder and there's NO sign of piston to valve markings. should I install a new cam and let it ride or could I be missing something?

I need your help!! On my 2015 q5 2.0, I had a chain rail on the intake side broke in half. Now I have the chain off and the cams pulled. When I turn the motor over at the crank, it stops DEAD after about 180 degrees of travel. The lobes and journals all look fine. There are shavings missing from some areas of the block due to the chain slapping around. It did not do this for long, I realized something wasn't right in the driveway. All of the valves appear to be up and closed judging from the top of the head. What could be jamming the crank up? Do I need to pull the head? I'm all ears! I need this car running.
