Training will get you further than not training at all. Many just train with competition in mind… still there are many others who train with defense in mind. Havin been in the infantry we ran drills not too dissimilar to this plenty. The ones that froze were far fewer than the ones who let muscle memory take the wheel and did as they trained. We frequently ran “Box drills” which was two man shaped targets, a failure drill on each, meaning two to the chest, one in either the T box of the head, or the pelvis. None of us shot for the pelvis. I got so proficient with runnin the box drill it sounded like 3 hammer pairs. Two to the chest on one, two to the chest on the other, head shot, head shot… Bein able to pull a trigger fast is well and fine, but bein able to hit your target fast and accurately like that? That’s from literally years of training. I ain’t sayin nothing about any body count… I’m just sayin the Marines don’t award a “Combat Action Ribbon” to Marines that freeze up. Training, even training like this, has its uses and its advantages. And is far better than going into a situation untrained and raw.
@hydrohedinvictus8697
2 ай бұрын
it doesn’t go out the window. training isn’t specific to any scenario, it familiarizes you with your equipment. if that goes straight over your head and you believe “gee willickers i am just different, so i do not need to train! ☝️🤓”. you should probably learn how to use your equipment.
@1990hondacivic

This is more sport than training. I don't think anyone uses this to prepare for real world scenarios.
@BBQandAaron

That's a fair point. I'm glad you understand that, but also understand that this is competitive shooting - which priorities fast and accurate shooting, which you have to improve target acquisition to achieve. Stay tuned for next month, where you will see Force on Force CQB videos hosted by the Mississippi Combat Training Academy - which is exactly what you're referring to. This, on the other hand, is competitive shooting. Combat-oriented and competitive shooting can be complementary by taking both sets of skills and combining them to become lethal and quick. But, I'm definitely not there yet and would easily be killed if there were 12 terrorists or active shooters waiting for me to be sounded off by a buzzer to start defending myself.
@BBQandAaron
2 ай бұрын
@@JG-PyroTXexactly. This can help you become more familiarized with your gun, optic, and target aquisition. It also can help you with imbalanced and unorthodox shooting positions and whatnot. I’ve never thought of that. I actually am not a fan of the “stippling” of the shadow systems - but I think it’s still better than a Glock 19, in my opinion.

@@antonslutskiy8039 this is a Glock 19 Gen 3 clone called the “Shadow Shstems MR920”. Yes, the barrel is threaded and is stock. The only things I’ve added are the Trijicon RMR and the TLR1HL. The slide is super smooth and has become smoother over time (over 10k rounds fired)

@@BBQandAaronyou'll get used to it. When I got my MR920 I was torn. I loved it but hated it at the same time. It was too rough. I like it now because I know it would take a lot for that gun to slip out of my hands and it's worn just a bit so it's more comfortable. Have you tried out the different back straps yet?
@roushstge2

@@antonslutskiy8039shadow systems are just all around great guns. I love my mr920. If you like Glocks and can shoot well with a Glock, you'll love a shadow systems. People call them the Gucci Glock because it's very very similar in build with just a few small differences in the mechanisms. Also has a better trigger, better grip, and looks better. Forst time I saw one I laughed thinking anyone that paid almost double over a Glock for this would be an idiot but now that I have one (bought used with 100 rounds through it) I 100% would buy one new over a Glock.

@BBQandAaron

@@ls1lando358 my recommendation is to take a formal basic pistol handling class and then go to a local gun range and rent out a bunch of pistols to see what you like. OR, after the basic pistol handling class, ask your instructor what they’d recommend for you and then go to the gun store and see how it feels in your hand. Everybody is different. I personally enjoy glocks, but i don’t like the stock sights. Ergonomically, I prefer sig sauer. It’s made for normal hands.

I’m watching this multiple times and then on the third go I realized he saved time by reloading on the very last chambered round so that he doesn’t even have to rack before shooting again. Insane.
@u-wot-n8
2 ай бұрын
The way it's scored, going dry is always worse than reloading with one in the tube. It's called Hit Factor scoring -- boils down to points per second. Each target has a maximum of 10 points for this stage, each hit is worth up to 10, but the best 2 are scored up to that 10 and often it's faster to go for 2x 5pt hits (a-zone) vs the single 10pt (k-zone). Other zones are 3 (C) points and 1 (D) point. Add up the best 2 per target (up to the maximum of 10), then divide by your time. Anything that takes extra time hurts how quickly you can put points on paper, and thus makes the bottom part of that fraction bigger, hurting your score

I used to run red dot, until I realized in any target that I’d need to engage beyond 20 yards would take at least a second and a half to 2 seconds aim down my sights. I switched to a green dot beam and I was able to cut that down to about a second flat. Groupings weren’t as tight, but all were on target at a faster pace. For cc that’s what I prefer, but sometimes I do still miss the red dot.
