Thanks! I really like thinking about this concept, it is deeper than most people realize!

I thought that an object with mass can't travel at the speed of light.
@GlobalScienceNetwork
Жыл бұрын
That is a good thought. The laws of relativity apply to objects as they move through space, not to space itself. So the real Universe cannot accurately be described by special relativity alone. Instead, we need to take into account that the Universe has a dynamical fabric (it is expanding). So nothing travels faster than the speed of light assumes that spacetime is static. Does that make sense?

Deep! Thing we assume so often disguises what the truth actually is, but for practicality we must.

Yeah, sometimes we need to for practicality, and sometimes we need to look deeper and remove assumptions to build things in a new way. Most life is just information that is being processed so making systems that are functionally equivalent to other life opens up new possibilities.

Sir, the way you explain is very fascinating. But when solving mathematical operations we should write2+2=4 or not?
@GlobalScienceNetwork
6 ай бұрын
Thanks! Well as a mathematical equation, you can. It is important to realize this is an abstraction of reality though. In physical time in space, it is impossible for 2 + 4 to equal 4. Since we live in physical space and want to build artificial brains that are functionally equivalent to biological brains we need to realize this can not simply be done in math, which is an abstraction. The system needs to be built in physical space. The physical interactions within the system need to be equivalent, not mathematically equal if that makes sense?

This breaches a fundamental tenet of pedagogical teaching which is abstraction. You should teach one concept at a time. You can hint at other context but force feeding information to make the philosophical point that nothing stays the same and therefore we should rethink the concept of identity serves no one.

I bring up multiple ways of thinking about the same concept to further prove the point. Since I was challenging such a basic notion people are going to challenge the thought so I was trying to be thorough.

This beginning of this video is only to say that the contexte matters. I find this pedagogical method unnecessarily convoluted to explain how a computer don't counts. And the video is full of unnecessary information. Is this a philosophic argument or a video about a physical computing machines. Is Global Science Network a cult ??

Well the idea with this video is once we spend years building hardware based neural networks then come back and watch this video it will make sense. How information is stored is a challenging concept.

If you watch the entire video and think about what I am saying it is actually fascinating and really important. Some people may not realize the importance of such a trivial concept and disagree or dismiss the premise. However, once we start building non-biological life and replicating neurons it will make more sense.

@@GlobalScienceNetwork I think with the very basic stuff you are presenting AI and all the other buzzwords you want to throw in are a little way off. But then not all of us are actual engineers that think like engineers, and it's not a skill, it's a mindset you are born with.

@@SparkyLabs A skill vs a mindset is an interesting point. Being able to learn and come up with the textbook solution makes you smart by current education standards. Understanding the limitations of the solution is actually more important. Some of this comes with experience but you need to question solutions and fully understand them. I will be getting into the limitations of current AI in future videos. Neuromorphic computing is going to be far more useful for creating artificial life than current AI models which are run on digital computers. This has its use cases but is very limited in creating actual life. I have a lot of input to give but it takes time to create the content.

@@SparkyLabs Maybe, I do not know anything about you or your technical abilities. Maybe you find the work you do as a real engineer very meaningful. As an engineer who has worked on many projects, I find that even if the project is very successful after many years of work the results do not have much significance. That is why I am pursuing projects that I find to be awesome. If you are a great engineer please follow along and provide input if you think it will be beneficial. This particular video is not intended to have a direct result other than to get people to think differently, even about basic concepts.
