Blyss Rayy let’s be real, the fact that you’re willing to put in the extra work to find this video & watch it is the reason you’re going to do well on your calculus exam! But so glad I can help on your way to success :)

Just want to thank you for the Calculus videos. I'm in a Calculus I summer class in college and my professor, to be frank, is not well-versed in properly explaining these concepts compared to your teaching. You will 100% be the reason I pass this semester! These concepts are so much clearer now that I've found your material. Hope you are doing well and thank you again for creating this content for us so we can learn!

+SchoolboyRoman Sorry, I don't have PreCalculus videos in the plan for this year! However, check out the Algebra 2 videos that I have posted. I cover most precalc topics in that series. Hope you end up having a good year in math class!

I don't really understand when we need to divide by the highest power in the denominator, I know that it is when the denominator does not approach a finite value, but what does that mean exactly? Thanks

Kellie Ketchum to try and make it simplest - we basically cannot have the denominator going off to infinity. So if we divide by the highest power of x in the denominator, we eliminate this problem. (Remember, also, that the limit as x goes to infinity of 1/x^n -> 0.)

Oh, I understand now! Thank you so much!

Can you please elaborate the last question? I have no idea why the answer would not be infinity, I thought because the top exponent is greater than the bottom it would lead to infinity.

Eric Chu sure. If you are just thinking about whether it is positive or negative infinity in your head without writing it all out as I’ve done in the video, I’d like like this: The denominator “3-x”, which is a line with a negative slope. So for very large values of x, our y-value is a very negative number. Our numerator is opening up. Positive over negative will give us a negative quotient. So we know our answers should be negative.
