A wonderful day kayak fishing on Lake Erie unfolded with yellow perch and a walleye. I started the morning just a few hundred feet offshore, jigging with a Rapala Jigging Rap for yellow perch and found plenty. After catch and release, I headed offshore 2.5 miles to a water intake crib in search of walleye and smallmouth. Jigging above the structure in 50 feet of water didn't turn up any fish, so I made the decision to head towards shore as thunderstorms built to the southwest. On the way in, I trolled and picked up a 23" walleye with a Rapala Deep Tail Dancer at around 150 feet back, with a 2oz weight at 50 feet back. The rest of the day consisted of keeping 7 additional perch and the walleye. Thanks for joining me on this great kayak fishing adventure!
